The cornering speeds are insane in this car and it hit close to 330kmh on the straights. Check the speed in the small digital readout on the steering wheel under the gear indicator.

I haven't watched a side-by-side yet, but I think that's still about 8 seconds off the fastest LMP1-H qualifying time even with a comparable top speed. These cars just don't have the power or downforce of the previous era.

I think BMW will get what they want this year. Of course, that's assuming no problems arise until the end of the race...

Kamui's amazing lap in 2017 was 3:14.791.

In comparison, Dries Vanthoor's lap in the BMW was 3:22.564.

Here's the pole times for the last 10 years:
  • 2026: 3:22.564 - Dries Vanthoor, BMW M Team WRT (#15 BMW M Hybrid V8)
  • 2025: 3:23.166 - Alex Lynn, Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA (#12 Cadillac V-Series.R)
  • 2024: 3:24.634 - Kévin Estre, Porsche Penske Motorsport (#6 Porsche 963)
  • 2023: 3:22.982 - Antonio Fuoco, Ferrari AF Corse (#50 Ferrari 499P)
  • 2022: 3:24.408 - Brendon Hartley, Toyota Gazoo Racing (#8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid)
  • 2021: 3:23.900 - Kamui Kobayashi, Toyota Gazoo Racing (#7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid)
  • 2020: 3:15.267 - Kamui Kobayashi, Toyota Gazoo Racing (#7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid)
  • 2019: 3:15.497 - Kazuki Nakajima, Toyota Gazoo Racing (#7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid)
  • 2018: 3:15.377 - Kazuki Nakajima, Toyota Gazoo Racing (#8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid)
  • 2017: 3:14.791 - Kamui Kobayashi, Toyota Gazoo Racing (#7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid)

As far as I remember the older cars used to get up to 400kmh on the straights. They were blistering.

Man, Peugeot really struggling for pace... This super secret BoP is quite frustrating!

I'm watching it, interspersed with the Brazil-Morocco World Cup match.

Booooo, football.

Just curious, Verstappen being in the N24 got that race more traction, but it's also free to watch. The FIA lock WEC and Le Mans behind a paywall, and this is a pet peeve of mine (just as with F1). Despite multiple members mentioning watching Le Mans, no action in the thread.

edit:

You hoping for Brazil to win, or lose?

I'm not much of a football fan, not really at all, but the World Cup is the World Cup, it's always memorable.
I don't know if you're referring to this, but it's free on YouTube via Fox here, but without English translation or subtitles

Video Unavailable.

It's locked up tighter than Nun's Knickers in most of Europe. I think it's streamed free-to-view in Belgium, so if you create a Belgian log in for that site you can watch it legally. I hate pay to watch for top level motorsport, it actively excludes future generations from watching and therefore kills off the future fanbase (currently the #1 reason I don't watch F1). I can't help but wonder if the lack of action in this thread is because people can't just go on to YouTube and stream the race, like most people can for N24.

I completely agree regarding future generations; luckily, we don't have those problems here.
