I know all that and that W224 is late to the party. They did the same thing however with the A class and the last CLS. That front design was introduced on the A class.
A new design must be introduced on the top of the line vehicles.

Baffling to see yet another variation of the same f#cking bumper design we've had for well over a decade.

These cars don't sell at all here, it's all X5. So it doesn't matter much in the end for me personally. The GLE is rare by default, and it will only get more rare being this ugly and old...

This time it’s the A-Class FL front bumper. I have it all studied, MB has 3 bumper designs and they go from one to another.

As if they were nice at all to begin with…

From what I can see with the FL models Mercedes is using their 3 year old E-class design language as a stop gap until the new models come in approx 2028 to 2030. The problem they have is the E-class will be facelifted next year and this car has to change to be fitting in with the future models (such as the E-class EQ also due next year) and the W224 in 2028/2029. From next year onwards I think the FL W223 and the GLE/GLS will immediately look dated next to the new models. I can already see it with the comparison of the GLC EQ against the FL GLE/GLS, the bigger cars look old already without the iconic grill with nicer headlights and the missing hyperscreen.

Mercedes need a massive design reset for the W224 S-class. Everything needs to change exterior and interior. They need to pay more attention to the small details and not make the interior have any noticeable cost cutting. Exterior needs the touches of the Concept Iconic to make it stand out.

From what I can remember except perhaps with the W140 S-class and W223 the succeeding S-class models started the new Mercedes design theme for all its saloons. W220, W221, W222 were the trailblazers but the W223 followed the design of the 2018 A-class. Mercedes need to reset their future design with the W224, it is the car to make or break the future of Mercedes. No compromises and pure perfection inside and out.

X1 is still one of the best looking Bimmers and far from a turd IMO. X2 is debatable though I've grown into it.

I love the current X1 it is looks fantastic and one of my favorite new BMW models. There are plenty on the road in SA, seems very popular wherever you go.

Like everything MB has ever built.

He’d call an EQS with C63SE Drivetrain and Dacia build quality absolutely amazing.
