Tech could be impressive but without ICE they won't sell many... Needs a V8 and I6 like it has now in 4-door. They can do it on the 214 underpinnings easily, like 4-door is now based on 213.

The rapid pace of innovation regarding BEV/REEV vehicles has yet to reach a plateau in which equally rapid obsolescence is no longer a factor. But that plateau will inevitably be reached-and BEVs/REEVs will be the vehicles of choice for the vast majority of buyers/leasers. Perhaps sooner than later. Whether the AMG.EA platforms usher that plateau remains to be seen.

Do you personally know people which buy these cars? What they care about is how it looks, second is the engine size and third the engine sound. Performance of the 4-door is already enough right now. If it is a silent machine it won't matter how fast it is. No one is buying Rimac Nevera either

Well, in my particular region, BEVs are rapidly becoming more common. Popular examples are especially the Volvo EX30, VW ID.4, KIA EV60, Skoda Enyaq and Peugeot e208/ e2008. Local shopping center parking lots are full of them. The SMART #1 seems to be becoming more popular as well. And pertaining to the more elevated segments of the BEV market, BMW i5 sedans and Tourings are becoming frequent sightings. And I'm seeing more and more Audi A6 etron Avants as well. An acquaintance of mine has an Audi RS etron GT, which he cannot seem to stop fawning over. I reckon that at least a handful of these are registered in my "Landkreis". As well as a good number more Porsche Taycans. Personally, I've had some "behind the wheel" time in various BEV vehicles, demonstrators and loaners. So far, I've always relished the driving experience.

Granted, the necessary infrastructure has been rapidly picking up pace in my region, hence making ownership/leasing an absolutely plausible proposition. BEVs have certainly "arrived" here.

Yes, I realize that this is anecdotal.

The silhouette looks very streamlined and sleek with a low flowing nose leading to a curved waist line and ending with a heavy raked rear screen and small decked boot. Going to be interesting to see the car in the flesh fully revealed.

Real car enthusiats who care about the driving experience are not buying EV sports cars.

Youre not a real car enthusiast.

Im talking about men who put their money where their mouth is and drive proper driving machines, and use them properly.

You're talking about gate keeping bull shit, it's getting tiresome.

If you say so.

Real car enthusiasts know who they are. They dont drive aspire to own EV’s. What you want to class as gatekeeping is quite frankly irrelevant to the market trends.

If rimac can admit it, maybe you should too

The question is, are "Real car enthusiasts" the only people buying sports cars?
The definition of "real car enthusiasts" will change with time.

Are Formula E drivers not "real car enthusiasts"?

Are Formula E drivers not "real car enthusiasts"?

Formula E drivers only race for
Formula E teams because they cant race in a better category.

Is formula E popular? No. Does any driver who has a choice, choose to race formula E? No.

The car enthusiast market is pretty clear in what they desire.

It wasnt 4 cylinder C63’s, and its not electric supercars ala rimac.

I mean yeah you can definitely make that argument for the AMG e-supercar.
But the GT4-door is not exactly a sports car. There are probably very few M5/R63/RS6/Panamera Turbo Hybrid owners who take their fast sedans to track.

The Taycan has fallen off in popularity, but it also launched on an immature platform with very poor electric range.
Whether or not the GT4e is liable to succeed is up in the air. There's a market for premium EVs and if it has good range, it'll fulfill that growing niche.

What some refer to as "real car enthusiasts" appear unsettled, perhaps intimidated by the rapid pace of innovation witnessed in the field of battery electric automotive drivetrains. In reality, automobiles and their industries are now undergoing a transition progress unparalelled since the horse and cart were retired. Young customers will all the more easily embrace this transition. Old "petrol heads" (I can arguably stand accused myself), will become a breed whose ranks will inevitably diminish into relative insignificance. Petrol powered automobiles will be the domain for classic car collectors/ enthusiasts as well as some smaller specialist boutique operations. There are "real car enthusiasts" in the electric mobility arena as well. Perhaps some priorities may have changed, but the passion is there.
