S-Class (W223) 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class W223 Pictures Thread

The Mercedes-Benz W223 is the seventh generation of the S‑Class full-size luxury sedan. Body Styles: W223 (standard), V223 (long), Z223 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach). Predecessor: S‑Class (W222). Successor: S-Class (W224) [expected]. Production: 2020- Model years: 2021-
Interesting. For me it looks like it’s squeezed.
Also Bruno Sacco said once, that all S-Class are first designed as a LWB , elegant, with long greenhouse and proportions made for that greenhouse, so also he said that for him no S-Class in SWB looks right. I have the same opinion.

Yes, Bruno is reknown for his affinity for Dachshunds.

I thought I read the S-classes prior to the 222 generation were designed as normal/short wheelbase and the long wheelbase was adapted to the design. Whereas the 222 gen was the first gen that was designed as a long wheelbase from the outset, and the short/normal wheel base was adapted from that.

Nope. All S-classes were made LWB first and then SWB. I mean...i dont know how it was before the 126...
For me the LWB looks bossy, aristocratic, the proportions are just perfect.
The SWB looks like a blown c-class, because the proportions are quite the same, only the whole car is bigger. A big NO GO from me.

My understanding was that the up until around the 221 gen, the S-class SWB sold more as the main market was Europe and the US. The US did prefer LWB but offering a SWB allowed for better market penetrance by offering at a lower price point. However, around the 221's existence, the S-class dominace in China, other ASEAN and ME markets, and added demand in the US flipped overall preferance that leaned more LWB, thus the change in design philosophy. When I get a chance tonight I might do some research and dig it up.

Frankly, I thought the 221 gen and prior to that, the rear door looked odd being so disproportionately elongated, and the V222 and V223 look "right." Whereas the W222's and W223's looks comparatively stubby, but in AMG guise, it makes more sense to me.

M-B engineers and designers did a fine job of integrating the extended length of the rear doors into the V222 and V223s' architectural proportions. In my eyes, M-Bs' more current L offerings are far more cohesive and graceful than those of BMW (G12) and Audi (A/S8 L).

But I do recall a time many years ago when I thought that it was unfortunate that there was no W108 300 SE 6.3 (only W109 SEL) or W116 450 SE 6.9 (only V116 SEL). And I thought that the W126 SEs' were far more attractive than the SELs'.

So compelling that it really does seem to make the C257 CLS redundant. This is all making me so eager to see what M-B has in store regarding the finished EQS.

I perceive the W/V223 as being the Wagener design teams' best exercise to date.

@fortuner: I agree! BUT: AMG multispoke wheels are only available in conjunction with AMG Styling.
If you don´t want to have AMG Styling, 20" rims (19" for comfort aspects) and are in the need of having winter tires you are restricted in your options.

took a obsidian black with black package and made him some 'bimmer shadow-line', so also black around the greenhouse-glass and in the rear no chrome line.
I think it looks quite nice....sure all BRABUS cars will be like that, only with even more black (also the mask) and even more brutal bumpers and bigger wheels

They're on form. There is not one ugly car left in the lineup. They are all suitably well proportioned, pleasingly attractive and rather timeless. There appears to be quite a seamless transition from the last generation to the new generation.

And as usual, MB always brings it with the S.

I don't find the rear of the CLS to be attractive, nor the S Class. I actually see them as dated designs, and forsee a heavy rear facelift for the S Class. I hope my opinion changes when I see it in person.

For me,I'm only not so sure about the dead on rear, other angles, the lights just work.

Being quite partial to the full-width rear lightband theme of the EQs', I imagine that they would suit the W/V223 as well as the C257 CLS. That aside, there is really very little, if anything at all, that requires "correction" on the W/V223s' exterior design. IMHO, the most eye-appealing M-B in quite some time.
