IS/RC 2020 Lexus IS

Easily Lexus' best ever design. It's as good looking as M...
How they got the proportions right on this version is beyond me.. this becomes one of the best saloons ever designed. I also remember the instrument panel with its enormous central Speedo.. so epic

That general sentiment about reliability being the reason to...

This is true though. Back then we had 2 BMW's, each had its own little glitches and every fix wasn't cheap. Then I left and moved overseas for work, sold everything and bought my mum a Corolla/Auris (whatever it's called). 6 years now and she's so happy with it, no issues at all except the rear view mirror got loose which the dealer screwed back on (for free), full service annually doesn't break her wallet.

You're definitely not going to get cutting edge tech and power trains in a Lexus, but you do get a proven, reliable package.

Lexus made a huge fuss for a refresh of a car that should be...
I wouldn't blame Toyota for anything. They are obviously the most successful car manufacturer at the moment, which means that they are doing exactly what is needed. They have a great portfolio of SUVs and that's where their efforts go now.

I really do think the exteri...
I think this car in real life will be a feast for the eyes. I also think it’s a more interesting and more attractive looking car than the 3 series or C class. I will always like the German benchmark brands but design wise lately I don’t think BMW and Mercedes are at their best and the 3 and C are just too popular for their own good. Every Tom, Dick and Harry owns one.

shame. Exterior's an improvement, especially the rear.

The interior and the engines.... huh? I am annoyed with the loss of those LFA-style vents. I am even more annoyed how little effort was put into these areas.

I think, at this point, the IS and defunct GS line ought to merge and make it a sedacoupe that competes in the compact or midsize bracket using either the GA-L or the purported Mazda RWD architecture. For a company with Toyota's potential, this is bush-league.

That said, this will make for an intriguing second-hand buy in a few years. I mean, the interior already looks antiquated, what's another couple of years?

Looks great, the quality and reliability are assured, but the engines are completely outclassed by the Germans and the interior looks about 10 years old. Your choice.

What a stunner. I love everything about it. There is presence and sharpness without fussiness.

What I've only noticed now is how Lexus have given the interior contrasting colour options between the red and ochre combinations.
It's a nice, different approach to lifting the interior ambiance.

Both the F-sport and standard version have a very dynamic look with a heck of alot of presence. This car is very stylish and sharp.

I actually like the interior alot. At first it appears to be a carry over, but look at the center console and the small details and its a modernized version of the previous style. The center console buttons look like touch sensitive capacative buttons/switches.

To me, the Acura TLX has a design aesthetic closer to the Germans, while the Lexus is more experimental.

The IS looks much better now, but the problem is that they didn't even try with the engines. A version of the turbo V6 from the LS500 with say 375hp would have been nice, or a V8 IS500/IS-F to send this generation off would have been stunning. The popular rumor is that this is just a stopgap car for the next 2 years until a truly new IS comes along on a shared architecture with the next RWD Mazda 6, also sharing Mazda's new I6.
