I think this is the 900'000 render but don't worry we still have another 100,000 to go. Let's see if they can break the number of the previous Golf renders.:D

So what now, everyone is going to copy MB's double screen layout?

Funny thing is this looks more practical than the new A8 solution.

VW have said that two screens on the same plane are safer and easier to look at.

I drive a Golf VII and I can assure you they are right. Having a touch screen lower than the speedo is a huge mistake and a constant cause of distraction.

Volkswagen Golf VIII Reportedly Coming In Two Years

New details surrounding the next generation Volkswagen Golf have started to emerge.
AutoExpress, the compact model will debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Its launch will coincide with the release of the brand's I.D. electric vehicle lineup, but despite the EV push, the new Golf will remain a 'core product'.

"The priority is Golf, because in the next generation it will be our main core product ; and that's where the focus goes", Volkswagen's chief, Herbert Diess, told the British publication. "You might call it once again 'Das Auto', because it is such a good package for a five-seater; it works so well", Diess added.

As many already suspected, the Volkswagen Golf Mk8's exterior design won't be a dramatic departure over the current models, adopting an evolutionary styling. It's expected to gain sleeker-looking LED headlights, a lower bonnet, squared-off shoulders at the rear, and the 'Golf' lettering that will probably sit beneath the 'VW' badge on the tailgate, a move inspired by the Arteon.

And while its exterior won't bring any dramatic changes, the same cannot be said about the interior design, which should get a complete makeover, with digital displays replacing most of the physical buttons. A large central touchscreen will take center stage and most functions of the car will be controlled through it. Finally, the instrument cluster will be replaced by an active info display, a feature that will eventually be carried out across the range.

Underpinning the new Volkswagen Golf will be an updated version of the MQB platform. This will help shed up to 70kg (154lbs) over the current car, allowing it to adopt a wide engine lineup that should include the 1.5-liter turbo'd gasoline unit, and a new 1.5-liter diesel that's said to replace the current 1.6 TDI.

The car will also feature mild hybrid technology by adopting the 48-volt electric system on some versions, as Diess revealed: "Mild hybrid systems will play a major role in the next generation of the Golf; that will be the first application."

The plug-in hybrid GTE will live on with the new generation, but the e-Golf won't, as it will be replaced by an entirely new car that will enter the I.D. family.

GTI and R variants of the Golf will come with a small power boost that will allow them to develop up to 250hp and 350hp, respectively.

New 2019 Volkswagen Golf Mk8 set for hybrid revolution

The Volkswagen Golf will undergo its biggest transformation in 43 years for the next generation as the German brand prepares to roll out hybrid technology, slim down the model line-up and completely revamp the interior design. An unveil for the Mk8 hatchback has been earmarked for the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019.

The arrival of the next Golf – previewed in our exclusive images – will coincide with the roll-out of Volkswagen’s I.D. electric car family, which begins with the Golf-sized I.D. hatchback. However, boss Herbert Diess has said that despite the aggressive EV offensive, which will see at least five dedicated battery-powered VWs launch by 2025, the next Golf remains the brand’s focus.

Diess told Auto Express: “The priority is Golf because in the next generation it will be our main core product; and that’s where the focus goes. Public attention, press and our communications have been a lot on the electric cars because we believe in it. But I’m convinced it [the Golf] will remain our core product in the next generation.

“[The] next generation of Golf – which we are, let’s say, quite advanced in the work on – will be the versatile car,” Diess continued. “You might call it once again ‘Das Auto’ because it is such a good package for a five-seater; it works so well.”

VW will use an updated version of the MQB chassis for the next-generation hatch, which is expected to shed up to 70kg due to the use of more lightweight materials. The shape or indeed the exterior of the Golf won’t change dramatically, but a more svelte front end with a lower bonnet and sleeker LED headlamps will feature, as our images show. More changes are evident at the rear, where the Golf will get more squared-off shoulders, while Golf lettering will appear beneath the VW badge for the first time, similar to the new Arteon.

The cabin will undergo a more dramatic makeover, with most of the physical buttons and dials replaced by digital displays. VW’s active info display, a replacement for the instrument binnacle, will be carried over and feature across the range, while most of the car’s functions will be controlled via a large central touchscreen.

As well as offering petrol and diesel engines, the next Golf will be the first VW to feature mild hybrid technology, thanks to the adoption of a 48-volt electric system on at least some variants. Diess said: “Mild hybrid systems will play a major role in the next generation of Golf; that will be the first application.

Then probably further ahead it will also be in smaller segments.” In the face of the VW emissions scandal and rising cost of diesel technology, mild hybrid powertrains will offer a cleaner alternative to diesel with similar levels of efficiency. Conventional powertrains will remain with a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine being joined by a new 1.5 diesel, which will replace the current 1.6.

Variants such as the GTI and R will benefit from performance boosts, with power up to 250bhp and 350bhp respectively. The plug-in hybrid GTE will also be offered, but the e-Golf won’t make it to another generation due to the arrival of the I.D. family, Diess confirmed.

Yellow one is a Larson render, while talented, his renderings are for the main part not close to the actual design at the start, or sometimes even later on.

MB's 'double screen layout' is not MB's; it's a development of what BMW started with the E65 7er. The double screen stuff started there and nowhere else.

It is difficult sometimes to debate when everything good and cool for you comes from BMW.

Nonsense. Think what you want of it however.
The double screen and general layout comes from what BMW invented with the turn of the century. I can't help you if you can't see that.

I give credit where credit is due.

Autobild reports:

- clear engine strategy
- design evolutionary but wider and more structure
- Golf stays 3 doors (even though Audi and Seat will not offer this variant anymore)
- completely new 3L VR6 biturbo for R version 400 hp
- 245 hp GTI
- 300 hp GTI performance
- 1L 3 cylinder 95 hp and 116 hp
- coming 2019

What do you mean when you say "double screen"?

Gosh! The Golf is already a spacious car. For how long can it keep growing. In 15 year's it could en up as an E-Class sized hatchback.
Here is an interesting comparison.
Length: Golf 1 - 3705mm; Golf 7 - 4255mm (difference = 550mm). So Golf 13 length - 4805mm which is the same as a W210 E-class.:)

2019 Volkswagen Golf 8 Teased At Supplier Summit In Wolfsburg

In June 2019, the Wolfsburg automotive plant will start production of the next-generation Golf. The Mk8 was announced at the Golf 8 Supplier Summit in front of 180 managers of 120 suppliers at the Volkswagen Arena by Ralf Brandstatter (Board Member for Procurement) and Karlheinz Hell (Head of Compact series group), alongside a teaser.

Introduced in 1974 and now in the 7.5 generation, the Golf is the perennial best-seller for Volkswagen in Europe. In terms of worldwide sales, the Golf is ranked third (952,826 examples sold in 2017), right after the Ford F-Series and Toyota Corolla. By comparison, the second-best ranked Volkswagen is the Tiguan, with 703,143 units sold in the previous year.

Wolfsburg, which is the heart of Volkswagen and the stomping ground of the Golf, produces in excess of 2,000 Golf vehicles per day, including the extremely versatible Alltrack, plug-in hybrid GTE, and electric e-Golf. It’s no wonder, then, that Wolfsburg is Europe’s largest car-making factory.

"Together with the I.D. family, the introduction of the upcoming Golf generation will be the most strategically important product launch for the brand. We have reached the decisive second stage of the project,"Brandstatter said to the suppliers. By second stage, the official refers to working with suppliers to ensure a trouble-free start of production in 2019.

Volkswagen highlights that 80 percent of Golf 8 suppliers are under contract for the Golf 7.5, which is a sign of mutual trust between the parties. So what can we expect from the newcomer of the Golf family?

"The next Golf will take Volkswagen into the era of fully connected vehicles with extended autonomous driving functions,” declared Hell. “It will have more software on board than ever before. It will always be online and its digital cockpit and assistance systems will be the benchmark in terms of connectivity and safety.” So yeah, the German automaker is moving the compact segment forward with the next generation of the Golf.

From a design standpoint, Volkswagen will undoubtedly go the way of evolution instead of revolution. As for powertrain options, the biggest newity comes in the form of a mild-hybrid system combined with the 1.5 TSI Evo, integrating a 48-volt starter/generator.

I look forward to comparisons against the 2.0TSI.

VW are talking about digitization of the interior. I think all VW models introduced from now onwards, will have the the following centre dual screen setup. Thankfully he HVAC controls are always accessible in the footer.

The Honda Civic is already at 4.5m. Larger than many vans.
