In overall very positive, weak points being : price (standard / options), serial equipment, AMG style sometimes too flashy. Strong points are : performances, driving pleasure, great transmission, versatility, good comfort (not what Autocar did say for instance).

Price: Like every AMG, M, or RS (or every premium car for that matter)

Serial equipment: Like any other AMG, M, RS

AMG style: like it's supposed to be.

So, no negatives, or 'weak points'. If anything, 'this is to be expected' points.
 
The ride comfort is going to be its Achilles heel , constant criticism ....Rivals will ride better im sure of it . Nice review overall and good compliment that it's almost feels like an M car you don't get better praise than that in that segment!

Great review and as usual awesome to see Harris sideways in this mean machine. He gives the car a big thumbs up. The engine/noise and driving experience of this car will be its definite plus points and this is where it has an advantage over the RS6 and most other rivals. The next M5 will have to be brilliant to beat this car but one area (it's engine noise) is where I think it already loses to the E63 S.

I have driven the new 540i G30 and the W213 they are both good cars i could not say one is better than the other they are so close but the E class interior feels more modern with its screens compared to the screen on the 5 series. I think it will come down to personal taste in styling.

A little off topic, but it is crazy to think the Bugatti Chiron has more power than both of these cars combined.

And not just some extra power, but a lot. You can add an M4 to that duo to rival the Chiron's power.

....E class interior feels more modern with its screens compared to the screen on the 5 series. I think it will come down to personal taste in styling.

Personal taste indeed, because I think the G30 looks far more modern and contemporary from the inside.

First direct laptime comparison I guess ? Interesting outcome which confirms AMG has managed to provide a great chassis to the E63.

But its not twice as fast! I certainly cant wait till AMS or ABSC can take it on the Nardo track and test its top speed. With the Veyron AMS achieved 402km/h in 2005.

I drove a red E63S this week for about an hour a red one, the colour is not good, the car is an animal the acceleration from 0-100 is absolutey brutal way to fast for a mortal man. Grip is also amazing. It had the recaro seats they are firm but compliant also had the ceramic brakes
 
That red looks far better when the car is fitted with brushed silver AMG alloys rather than the powder-black version.

IMO the car looks pretty good in red. Where about did you drive the car to? I also think the interior can do with the carbon fiber trim. Thanks for your review, if you are going to get one which color and interior specs will you go for?

Hi, in the flesh red looked average but nothing crash hot. I also saw a selenite gray matt finish edition 1 and it looked amazing. Still considering the colour which is why I havent ordered yet but maybe I was thinking diamond white with black rims, in terms of the options i want AMG high performance ceramic composite braking system which is now a $9900 option compared previous gen it was around $20,000, carbon interior, carbon engine cover, carbon exterior package, the normal seats not the recaro seats that about it.
