Renault must have a huge stand at the IAA what with all of its premieres.
Is this not the fourth new model for Frankfurt?

Interior and exterior looks nice and premium. Still not crazy about the those lights extensions but I do like the lightworks in the rear.

This is just SO much better than the other French alternatives.

Great job!

Window line similar to that of the Mercedes GLA. Window line similar to that of the Mercedes GLA. As a whole presents itself not badly but occur bumper LEDs are terrible ...

2016 Renault Megane

Sits 25mm lower than outgoing model
Renault has decided to launch a preview of their all-new Megane ahead of the hatchback's full reveal set for next week at IAA.

Even though yesterday Italian media let the cat out of the bag by posting fully revealing pics with the new Megane, it seems Renault isn't wiling just yet to spill the beans on their C segment fighter as they have only posted several images. The company with the diamond logo says their new compact hatchback sits 25 mm lower than the outgoing Megane and also has bigger tracks as these have been widened by 47 mm at the front and 39 mm in the back.

The wheelbase has grown in size by 28 mm which means there will be significantly more room for rear passengers. Exterior designer Franck Le Gall has shortened the rear overhang and he applied chrome accents to enable a more upscale look.

Those who want a sportier Megane will have to get the GT version available from day one with Renault Sport 18-inch wheels, a new Iron Blue paint and with a different front bumper hosting a bigger air intake and more aggressive air scoops while the grille adopts a honeycomb pattern. It can also be visually distinguished by the Renault Sport badging, subtle Dark Metal touches applied at the front and on the side mirror caps while the rear end hosts two chrome exhaust tips and a diffuser-like element.

According to WCF user livc44411 , the engine lineup will consist of the following units:
  • 0.9 Tce 90bhp 135nm manual 6
  • 1.2 Tce 130bhp 205nm EDC6 (manual 6 possible)
  • 1.6 Tce 150bhp manual 6
  • 1.6 Tce 200bhp 260nm EDC7 (likely the Megane GT)
  • 1.8 Tce 280bhp (Megane RS)
  • 1.5 Dci 95bhp 245nm manual 6
  • 1.5 Dci 110bhp 260nm manual 6
  • 1.6 Dci 130bhp 320nm manual 6
  • 1.6 Dci 160bhp 380nm EDC6
A full online reveal is expected in the coming days, prior to a public debut set for next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show. A more practical wagon version will likely be unveiled before the year's end.

Is this a car fitted with lights or lights fitted with a car ?

Rather hideous, actually. Makes the pre-LCI 1er look like a Botticelli. If I could describe Renault's current design language in a word: gloopy.

Martin I quite disagree.

Renault has been trying for years now to establish a corporate design fascia and has failed so far. They went from "completely indifferent" to "a huge badge in your face" in no time and no effort could be described as "actually good looking" in my book.

This time, I think it looks bold enough, but not Lexus-like extravagant. It's down-to-earth enough to attract attention and maintain it.

I'm not a huge fan of the LED stripe in the front, but it's not that bad. The rear actually looks good!

Terrible. Just terrible, inside out.
Why they didn't evolve the rather minimalist interior approach of the current Megane? A screen alà Audi A3 and better tactile materials would have done wonders, instead of poorly fitting the same infotainment and HVAC controls of the Talisman and Espace, with those horrible airvents surrounding it. And wtf about those headlights and stoplights, for the love of the lord. Not only they look hideous, but why exactly the same as the Talisman ??? Cost cutting at its finest.

Sorry Renault, but I'm not coming back to you. Now go and ruin the Megane RS by fitting a subpar DCT transmission

@Forza - gee thanks for the dislike man.

@Giannis - I hear what you're saying and appreciate the motivation but I can't help the way I feel about this new Megane. It's the same with the current generation Clio and its crossover spin off. I'm just not a fan of the styling details and the overall design in general. Subjective stuff, really.
