F1 2016 Formula 1 Season

Formula 1 news, races, teams, drivers, technology, strategy, and discussion.
I personnaly am notshocked by Lewis behaviour although ui am pretty sure that had it been Vettel or Rosberg doing, a monumental shit storm would have been created denoucing the dirty german WDC thief. Now some british crybabies journo are starting to blame Vettel. Unbelievable.
I would have done the same.
Fought like a real champ, and was not to going to quit to the very end:very British;rather die trying than not trying at all.

I don't either, and I can't even blame him. He wanted to become World Champion and was doing everything possible to make that happen.

Sad that Vettel has become such a pussy; there were opportunities to pass Rosberg, or at least try doing that, in the last couple of rounds. Because of Hamilton!

How does that make Vettel a pussy? Didn't obviously like the way Hamilton acted (neither did I), and acted like a gentleman towards his countryman by not passing.

It has nothing to do with rosberg being german i think. First of all he tried passing him as the gap at the finish line was a sub-1s, secondly he must have backed off because there was no easy clean way of doing it and this is where i can't stand the largely british dominated f1 press hypocrisy. They always talk about the necessity of other drivers not interfering specialy at the finale with the title race.
Vettel just did that, he raced them but with precaution. he has been perfect in that regard. Now he's starting getting the flack for that by people who would have crucified him if he dared race Hamilton. Something they also tend to forget is that not only had Vettel to pass but also Verstappen which would have been very unlikely given his tyres state at the very end.

It's not a bridge club, man!

Looking forward to the 2017 season, I am hoping that the myriad of new regulations implemented will equate to better F1 motor racing.

Niki Lauda has been quoted as stating that 2017 may be a "difficult" season for AMG-Mercedes-Benz F1. Sandbagging ? Should this actually evolve, it could be feasible that Lewis Hamilton will eventually retire from the sport as a 3 time WDC, regardless of when he actually retires. Of course, one could thus conclude that Nico Rosberg will retire with a sole WDC under his belt.

Several factors appear to indicate that Red Bull will enjoy a resurgence as the top F1 team. The battle between Max and Danny should be monumental, I myself having a hunch that Max will come out on top.

Ferrari in 2017 ?? I haven't the faintest idea, but hope that the pace Seb displayed this past Sunday will be a precursor to a genuine challenge mounted next season. Max versus Seb for the WDC would be fascinating indeed.

And not to forget Fernando Alonso. Should McLaren-Honda produce a genuinely competitive package, he is sure to produce a good number of brilliant performances.

All conjecture of course.

.
I hope you are right, but history shows whenever there is a big rule change, there is a big chance of one team hitting some loop hole/break through and enjoying a big advantage while others play catch up. Having said that, with the emphasize on aero in 2017, there is a chance RB with give MB a run for the money. Looking forward to a Lewis vs Daniel vs Max showdown.

The simple reason Vettel didn't pass Rosberg is because he didn't want to risk not being the only four-time WDC driver on the grid. ;)

Good choice. He'd be in the shadow of Lewis, Max and Daniel next season.

There's not much of a 2016 season to discuss now though...

@Giannis Will a new thread for the 2017 season be created, or will this one get re-named and carry on?

I'd say that a new season deserves a new thread. Therefore, feel free to open one!

:)

Interesting to note that Nico's father Keke retired about a year or so after Nico was born, and Nico has retired about a year or so after his daughter was born, both with one championship. Wouldn't surprise me if he hung up his helmet completely.

Well, let's see who'll replace him... Will be squeezy-bum time for most of the team directors until his successor is announced, that's for sure

I'd just like to say that I'm out of contract for 2017, and I'm willing to accept being number two to Hamilton.

Wehrlein I'd imagine, give Toto and Niki a break from all the BS for a year if Lewis gets a clear #2 as a team mate.
