TT 2013 Audi TT Spy Pics & Info

It looks good but I still don't like it if it is FWD based. Only longitudinal front or mid-rear engine layout with AWD (also RWD if possible) would interest me.

The Audi TT is due for a redesign in 2014, and we now have an idea of what to expect for the third-generation of Audi ’s stylish two-door: a lighter, more focused driving machine.

Audi officials say that the next TT will be a “more driver oriented” coupe aimed directly at the likes of the Porsche Boxster , Autocar reports.

One of the factors that will contribute to the new TT’s more responsive handling is a slight weight reduction from the current base car’s mass of 3,150 pounds. The car will be built around a inner structure with a higher percentage of lightweight aluminum in the bulkheads and floorpan, and aluminum will also continue to make up a large portion of the bodyshell.

Underpinning the next TT will be Audi and Volkwagen’s new “MQB” transverse-engine architecture, which will make its debut at next month’s Geneva show under the sheetmetal of the new Audi A3 (the current TT and A3 models also ride on the same basic PQ35 platform).

Besides retaining the stylistic essence of the original, Bauhaus-inspired TT, sources at Audi told Autocar that the new coupe will be “more technical looking.” Also look for details like larger fender flares, stronger shoulder lines and the latest version of Audi’s large corporate grille.

Under the hood, the current crop of turbocharged four- and five-cylinder engines are expected to return with more power, while front- and all-wheel-drive will continue to be offered.

After the new TT launches in 2014, a drop-top variant should follow within a year.

I honestly wouldn't mind driving that. If it looks anything like that and it grows a bit in size, I think it's good enough to be considered as a car to look into in the future when I'm on the market again.

Seems to me the front grille is going all "Man of Steel" on us....

I am with Levi68, as usual.

MQB means non-quattro system (Haldex based on-demand) and 1.8, 2.0 and 2.5 TFSI. Brilliant (?). I want an R4/R5, that BlueSport and 'new 550 Spyder' cousin. A mid-engined layout, 2-seater roadster. I don't want to see the same thing again. Besides, terrible interior that one of the new A3. Minimalistic or just damn ordinary?

i think the latest iteration of Audis (A4 FL, A5 FL, A8) have become uglier since Walter de Silva moved to VW and no longer has a direct hand in the Audi designs.

Next-Gen Audi TT to Get Reconfigurable TFT Gauges

Audi will include a programmable thin-film transistor (TFT) gauge cluster as standard equipment on the next TT. The flat-screen display—you can see a similar concept in the Jaguar XJ—is the proper gimmick for sporty models, Ingolstadt insiders tell us. It will allow drivers to view maps as well as configure the appearance of the instruments. Audi is developing a module that can be used for various models; in addition to the TT, it is likely to be offered on sporty derivatives, such as the next-generation S5. It won’t be available in Audi’s luxury cars where, we are told, “customers demand a chronograph look.”

We expect to see the next TT in a year or so. It will be based on the VW Group’s new MQB platform.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
