It's a confusing car. It tries to mash together the best from the One-77, DBS and Vantage. Could this be the first Aston that doesn't look that great?

I think the car will look better if they paint the lower front carbon bumper. Everything else on the car look great, except for that front end.

I really think AM is running out of ideas like others have stated, but the car is still gorgeous so I guess it won't be real problem for another few years. However, the V12 should be making at least 600hp now if they truly wanna compete with the Ferraris of the world.

Stunning design though.

I'm getting disapointed. No Ferrari performance, but not good looks either. It is getting bad on the long term. If you go on the Aston Martin website, there are so many models, when in reality only three (One-77, V12 and V8).

The way I see it, A-M is more GT than sports-car like Ferrari. I think they have the handling down, but they are not too concerned with power. 550 hp is more than enough and more than capable for the 99% of their clientele.

Funny thing is, when the concept was released I was rather disappointed with the all the boy-racer bits. But in production form, it looks gosh-darn beautiful. Yeah, they have been using the same design for what seems like eons. But, with the exception of the chin spoiler, this looks achingly beautiful. I even love the rear spoiler now. If they made significant mods to the VH platform, I would have a tough time deciding between this and the F12. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending how you look at it) I won't be losing any sleep trying to make up my mind either of these great machines.

Damn, it's good time to be a young tech tycoon or an oil baron or wealthy industrialist. Wait, it's always a good time to be in any of those professions. :D

Unlike the 911, Aston Martins do not really get much better. Better chassis, lighter weight more power would not do any harm.

It looks quite good but:

- the integration of a spoiler on the trunk lid does not suit the car. IMO that shape of the lid should have stayed the same, if they wish, they could have made a retractable spoiler like the RS5, A7 or Boxter (981).
- a chrom line should connec the upper part of the taillights.
- the connection between the lower part of the taillights to the trunk lid looks better IMO.
- it should have gotten larger tailpipes formed according to the shape of the depening of the rear diffuser. Four round tailpipes do not fit Aston Martin, larger round or oval tailpipes like R8 V10/R8 GT would not be decent, unlike something shape formed like Lexus tailpipes.

It's official:

Next year Aston Martin celebrates its centenary and to mark the milestone the automaker will be launching a new model, one that’s forward-looking yet still hinting at the past.

That new model, we can confirm today, is the AM 310 Vanquish, the first images and details of which have just hit the Web.

Aston Martin’s new model, which will serve as the marque’s flagship now that the One-77 supercar is officially sold out and sales of the DBS are wrapping up, has been one of the worst kept secrets of the year.

A concept version dubbed the AM 310 was quietly rolled out at the recent 2012 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d'Este in Italy, and then a completed car bearing the “Vanquish” name on its trunk was spotted just outside Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, England.

Now information on the car has surfaced on Aston Martin’s main website one day prior to the official reveal.

The decision to call it a Vanquish is fitting considering the new car is being launched as part of Aston Martin’s centenary celebrations, though at the same time it is also thoroughly modern, featuring the aggressive new look that will appear on the automaker’s future models--just like the previous Vanquish.

Under the body panels are heavily revised versions of Aston Martin’s venerable VH platform and 6.0-liter V-12 engine, which the automaker describes as next-generation designs. Peak output is rated at 565 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque, with drive sent to the rear wheels via a ‘Touchtronic 2’ six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

Aston Martin predicts the new Vanquish will accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 183 mph. Yet the brand’s team of engineers has also been working towards economy and emissions improvements.

Using knowledge attained during development of the One-77, each body panel on the new Vanquish is constructed from carbon fiber because of its high strength-to-weight ratio and flexibility of form. Meanwhile, torsional rigidity is improved by more than 25 percent.

Inside the cabin stylists have also drawn inspiration from the One-77. The sweeping center console, for example, is almost identical to the design seen on the former flagship. Customers will be able to choose from 2 or 2+2 seating configurations, and at the rear they’ll find much more space than in the DBS, with designers managing to increase trunk space by 60 percent to 13 cubic feet.

First sales of the AM 310 Vanquish are scheduled to start in Europe towards the end of the year, with pricing set at £189,995 (approximately $297,828). U.S. launch and pricing information should be announced shortly.

I think I like it.

So will women. Just like any Aston it will be a panty dropper however the performance figures are disappointing despite all the Carbon Fiber jizz and fancy body kit. But hey, who said that sex and passion has anything to do with logic.

Yeah, it's pretty darn stunning, irrespective of how typecast it may be - it's an Aston Martin for pete's sake - within the marque's present design idiom. It's Vanquish alright - pure and proper.
I really like the pinched waist "coke-bottle" surface effect around the trailing edge of the door and door-pillar.
