Virage 2012 Aston-Martin Virage Coupe and Volante Revealed !

Are they ever gonna make a new car or are they gonna keep on glossing over the DB9?

The latter I think. I hope Fisker is still earning royalties from the Vantage or DB9 because it seems like AM will keep facelifting them until eternity.

Ian Callum designed the DB9 and early design of AMV8.

Fisker finished the AMV8.

Two years ago Aston Martin has made it public that they're going the Porsche 911 route in updating their cars. I'm not complaining as the 911 is doing well despite looking similar for the last 20 years.

20 years ?!
You mean 45 years surely.

That's like 911' case - you don't change dramatically something that looks soooo f'n gorgeous for many years...;) :D

Hehe, word! :D

Btw, Marcus my friend - you take the Volante since you like them so much and i'll take the Coupe, ok? ;)

Well yea.. I meant since the 993-996-997.. as even non car enthusiasts'd be able to recognize a pre-993 as "old 911"..

but yes, the siloutte survived for 45 years and likely another 45 years, and I really, really don't see why Aston's silouttes wouldn't especially as they are way more gorgeous than any Porsches.

I would consider the 993 the last of the "old" 911s'. Not only in terms of the mode of its' engine cooling, but also exterior design. The 996 was the most marked departure from the previous 911 theme. The 997 is a successfully executed evolution of the 996 theme, methinks.

More gorgeous ? More glamourous, perhaps.

Slightly bemused here... in spite of the gorgeously good looks.

Am I being told that Aston Martin needs this car to sit in between the DB9 and the DBS? Wow, that's one helluva tight squeeze. It's like putting a crown on a tooth that didn't even need a filling.

Watching this space carefully for how it all might pan out.

Maybe...At least porsche does create a new chassis. The silhouette of the 911 hasn't changed much, but you can tell the difference from 996 to 997. This though..it's been going on for like 7 years, and they keep showing these glossed over cars as "new". C'mon already. Jeez.

What are you talking about ?

Firstly, 911 chassis is still steel. AM is aluminium even their A-pillars are not welded but bonded.

Secondly, I can easily tell the difference between DB9, DBS and Virage. I know most people cannot differentiate 996 from 997 and they even thought 996 is the newer one.

Bitchin' about AM lineup looking alike is not any different than Porsches all looking alike.

I know car enthusiasts who cannot differentiate the Cayman from the 911 on the road.

Might wanna watch your tone with me dude. I've been here long enough for most to know my opinions on things. You might want to research my opinions on porsche before mouthing off.

As for answering you. Did I say all AM's look alike? No. You can tell the difference? Congratulations, you have eyes.

Throwing out statistics like "I know most people" only shows the rest of us your childish logic.

Talking about the chassis. Did I talk about the materials used? No. So once again, the hell are you talking about?

Go re-read what I wrote, create a coherent and intelligent thought and keep your biases out of it. Proofread, and the resubmit.

*mods - sorry, I'm sick of new members replying without thinking about what they are responding to.*

What, being a "senior" makes you a god or some kind ?

Your opinion does not matter any more than anyone else including a new member who had just joined today.

What, being on the forum longer automatically means you know more about the car industry than someone who just joined ? This is just a forum. There is a real industry out there with people working in it like me.

Internet forums mean nothing. You have an illusion of grandeur. I'm sick of people who think they are to be respected like kings just because they have ten thousand posts.

PUH.

Throwing out statistics like "I know most people" only shows the rest of us your childish logic.

LOL, you're calling people childish ? Your nickname is a character from a Japanese manga which is read by ten year olds !

Are you telling people in the real world that you have ten thousand posts on an internet forum so your opinion is to be respected ? :t-crazy2:

In my childish little "money is no object" dreamworld, there is really no other car in this category that I would rather have. So tasteful and elegant. Unpretentious and timeless. Ferrari ? Far too vulgar and in terms of design not appealing to me. Lamborghini ? Far too outrageous. Maserati ? Hmmm...I'm really nitpicking but I simply cannot stand those front fender portholes.

The more I view the photographs of the new Virage, the more I appreciate the wonderful job that Aston Martin has done with this car. It has certainly replaced the DBS as my favorite A-M.

Oh yes-I would take the coupe.

Escaping reality for a moment or two and dwelling in a dreamworld can be fun !!

^^I'm with you man. It certainly doesn't replace the DBS. There is something about the DBS that I just love. I see this as what the DB9 facelift should have been.

Apparently, you have reading comprehension issues. Might want to make sure you understand WHAT you're reading before replying. If you want to argue PM me, that way you're only wasting my time and not everyone else's. I'll be sure to set you straight.

That's a true panty dropper. It's drop dead gorgeous. I would love to see a DBS with those head lights, though the Virage offer the same gorgeous looks at a lower price.

Meh! That's all I can say.

And the power output is a freaking joke this day and age for such a car with such an engine.
