Yippie kay yay again!
Just got an invitation for the C-X16 Sneak preview on the 12. September in Frankfurt!
Adrian Hallmark and Ian Callum (whom i met in 1998 when i picked up my XKR in England) will be there and present the new Jag, one day before the IAA opens for the press (The offical start will be the 17.).
Of course i will tell you my first impressions though i´m afraid, i will be not allowed to take pictures (again, like with the SLS Roadster).

OK, that´s all for now,
cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Yes, it´s really next monday. I´m quite sure, there are a lot of these sneak previews by different brands. (In fact a friend of mine has already driven the C63 BlackSeries Coupe)

cuuuuuuuuuu

I'm really excited about this Merc concept. I hope its a heads up on the new S-class.

Does anyone know when the CLS shooting break is due for release? It was a stunner.

The CLS Shooting Brake (X218) is expected in 2012, whereas its smaller brother, likely called the CLC Shooting Brake (X117), follows in 2014.

Can't wait :t-cheers:

I´ve heard the F 125! Concept from MB is a larga coupe, painted in "silver arrow" and something regarding the engine being a derived from the new SLK55 AMG one. Nothing specially serious, so take it as it is, pure speculation.

Guys,Im off to Frankfurt tomorrow...14hrs in economic class cabin for a take a look at the new 911..oh damn...J/K:D

Just touched down in Frankfurt and picked up by my wife to go to the hotel but made a stop at the IAA before hand to have a "preview".
Whilst I went into the Audi stand itself a return to how BMW Conducted their IAA display on the Agora which ended in 2007.
But it seems in their ever-ending quest to "out-do" BMW with their "track" there is not really much space inside with cars are practically all lined up. Also I see Audi have now got terms for their programmes such as Audi Ultra = BMW Efficient Dynamics , Audi Connect= BMW Connected Drive and Audi E-Tron = BMWi that it appears to be looking at a mirror image of BMW or an imitation brand just as you buy a knock-off of a luxury item. Now BMW's track is very much simpler and allows for every model line to be properly accomodated .

Mercedes-Benz's F125 is very nice in the flesh but it looks like the simpler body surfacing is what will showcase first on next years S-Klasse. It is less prominent and more on the surface and less that it does not look as if the car has been slammed in the side.
well tonights preview parties include the BMW Preview for BMW employees and BMW dinner and the MINI party. But on the flight back from Los Angeles the plane was filled with several "beautiful" people who are in town for the Lapo Elkann party. :D

Wouldn't it be strange if they DIDN'T try to outdo their biggest competitor?

Yes, by offering something new & innovative ... not by copying rival's concepts ... Otherwise they should be compared to Samsung, LG or HTC ... and not Apple, like they usually are. ;) It's not just the attractive design that makes Appel THE Appel. It's market leadership ... by innovative products rivals don't offer.

Yes but look at Mercedes-Benz. They are doing something entirely original, They are going in their own direction. Audi is a straight up mirror image of BMW. It is watching what BMW does and then does the same. At tonights VW "whorefest" The R8 E-Tron was compared to the BMW i8? How can they compare an electrified sports car that is borne from the best bits of a Lamborghini Gallardo in a stylish body with a developed from the ground up concept? What I have learned is that VW execs are not liking journalists biting back and the mirror image to BMW is something that has begun to get more exposure.

Yea, but how was Audi able to release the E-Tron so quickly after the i8 was introduced by BMW? Surely it takes a few years to come up with the vehicle. Even if Audi did get its idea from BMW, if its better, it doesn't even matter where it came from. According to your logic then, did BMW take its idea of the i3 from the Prius ? I suppose if BMW makes a supercar like the R8 we can call it a ripoff of it as well?

In a time where all three German automakers are getting closer and closer in terms of offered technology, it makes sense for there to be an Audi Connect and a BMW Connected Drive. It's just like saying Audi's MMI is a ripoff of BMW's i-Drive, or that was a rip off of COMAND. You can't call these ripoffs because its part of what a car is. It's like saying Android rips off iOS because they have apps as well.

And just because a car is built from scratch doesn't make it any better. If you really need an example, the Aztek was made from scratch, and it was a disaster indeed. Just because its "original" and doesn't borrow any elements doesn't make it a superior car, which is what I assume you're trying to say (correct me if I'm wrong).

The nonsense about how Audi is trying to be like BMW or trying to be like MB is getting old. If you really pay attention to all the automakers right now, they've finally understood one point, and its that consumers like cars that are sporty, luxurious and innovative altogether. This is no longer a time where buyers need to choose what they prefer, because they can have everything. This is why some reviews (though I disagree) comment that the A6's handling has surpassed the 5's, or that the 5's ride is more comfortable than the E's (for ex.) Audi isn't trying to be like BMW, its just trying to be an impressive company.

The thing is,the R8 e-tron debuted way before the i8. So how has Audi copied anybody in this regard?

Oh, I wasn't actually aware of that, from Scott's post I assumed the i8 came out first :S. Now I'm not suggesting that BMW copied Audi at all, or that Audi is better than BMW. In fact, I find myself liking the BMW lineup the most at the moment. My one and only argument is that Audi is doing its own thing, and isn't necessarily "copying" the other automakers as some may suggest.

Everything on the F125 looks nice, except for the grille. It looks a bit awkward, but I could see the production model pulling this off. Is this concept any indication that we can expect to see a cleaner side on the W222?
