2010 Paris Salon: Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept

If I can be perfectly frank, between these Lambos, the new Lotus, BMW's future offerings/concepts, plus some other debuts that are going to be shown that I'm forgetting at the moment, I'm really looking forward to the Paris AUto Show. It's shaping up to be quite nice.

^thats a huge ass car..
i hope they use alot of light weight material..or it will be a pig..
And with that light weight material comes a crazy price tag:(

Looks like the actual body is being masked by a substantial shell to hide the appearance, probably not as large as the pictures would lead you to believe. The cost will be prohibitive as usual, unless one of us hits the lottery!

^well it will still be large it seems..like the murcielago..
But the murcielago has a pretty good price point compared to cars like CGT,Enzo and Zonda..
;)

It must surely be a Murcielago replacement that'll be shown at Paris. It's the Morth that's the one ready for a model change.

Agreed but it's also the model which appeared at the ring for testing, did a few laps and was quickly transported back to Italy, either for changes that showed up during testing that couldn't be fixed on site or some other unforseen issues.

^i hope it looks better even..

Oh and it says something about the estoque;)

The Murci replacement (Jota) is obvious. Im more curious about the 2nd car thats going to be unveiled. The estoque would go down well.

would be silly not have a double clutch gearbox :t-crazy2:

Yes, but Lamborghini simply does not have the resources to engineer a third-party double-clutch tranny from ZF or Getrag and the VW-Audi Group has no double-clutch tranny that is strong enough to handle that kind of power. The double-clutch tranny used in the Bugatti Veyron is very very expensive and I'm not sure if it could be fitted to the Lamborghinis without substantial alteration.

But I think Lamborghini will have to have double-clutch transmissions available eventually. It is simply superior to ALL robotised manual transmissions. Robotised manuals may be made to deliver sub-100ms shift times. But the shifts are brutal, harsh, and are horrible in slow speeds.

I'd also like to see what transmission Pagani has in store for the upcoming C9. The robotised manual in the Zonda Cinque did not receive good reviews at all.

Are you aware of, that because of dual clutch being too smooth, Ferrari programmed a "jerk" function to the California and 458 , to simulate that gear change feel ?

Actually, Lamborghini had stated that that characteristic of gearchange is more suited to its cars, that's why they decided not to pursue the dual clutch route.

But I agree, dual clutch is superior.

So I guess for the future, Audi supercars will have dual clutch + twin turbo, Lambo will have sequential manual and probably stick to normally aspirated for as long as they can, until regulations force them to go turbo'ed.

Yes, that is precisely why Lambo should have a double-clutch tranny available sooner rather than later. Lamborghini can engineer a double-clutch tranny that jerks like a manual, no problem. The quality and characteristics of the gear shift can be engineered to suit the need of the car manufacturer.

The problems are the weight and size of a DCT that can handle >700bhp and the complexity of programming the electronics that link the tranny, engine ECU, traction control, and the 4WD unit. There is simply no DCT that is up to it (Veyron's DCT aside).

Agreed 100%.

While the Jota is 100% sure not to have DCT, the Gallardo successor has a very big chance to be equipped with DCT. Why ? Because it will be co-developed with Audi R8 successor (whereas the current R8 is simply a reworked Gallardo chassis).

So I'm 99% sure the next small Lambo will have DCT.
