XJ 2010 Jaguar XJ Series (Spy pics & info)

The Jaguar XJ is a series of mid-size/full-size luxury cars produced from 1968 to 2019. It was produced across four basic platform generations (debuting in 1968, 1986, 2003, and 2009) with various updated derivatives of each. From 1970, it was Jaguar's flagship four-door model. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have been designed under the leadership of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in countless media and high-profile appearances.

^No it doesn't,the car doesn't offer any real world advantage over the Germans,no ground breaking tech or safety systems.Nothing and i mean nothing is there that one can talk about.

The XF has actually done pretty well in tests against the Germans. It has even ended up on top in a few of them. The cat is definitely back. Unlike in the 90s Jaguar is finally manufacturing cars that are sexy, offer good quality and don't leak oil. Sure it won't beat the Germans but it will be a good alternative like the LS. On the other hand it will be completely demolished when the new S arrives in 3-4 years:D

Death Race anyone?

I really hope the camo is still too heavy to judge, bacause I already see some detalis that i don't like:
- the front lights seem to be made out of one piece, meaning the four ovals are gone!
- The rear is -just like the XF's- too high for a typical Jaguar.

This is one of the very few cases where I want the designers of a certain model to be conservative and provide us with a heavy face-lift, not a completely new design!

Don't you think that Jaguar has played it conservative for the too long. Although still gorgeous the XJ has been heavily facelifted for the past 20 years. The four ovals will still be incorporated in the head light clusters.

I think Jaguar did a terrific job reinventing the brand with the XF. Just like with previous models, it's seductive and you look at it like a sex object. Huge make over that managed to carry on the typical Jaguar characteristics. Yes the ass is mad high but carried out right it's not an issue. The sleek and famous British silhouette is dying and I'd be surprised if Bentley won't be abandoning it with the new Arnage too. If it inherits the C-XF concept's main design elements I think the new XJ can turn out to be a very striking car.

re: 2010 Jaguar XJ Series (Spy pics & info)

the sad truth is that many manufactureres and design studios aren't abandoning some of there typical characteristics following trends, but they are forced to do that due to some redicoluous reguöations and laws that are starting to define the looks of cars. As a matter of fact we are entering a dark age of car design - some designers think that we did 20 years ago.
We as students still have the freedom to cut our imaginations loose but at the same time we learn what the real world will be bringing us.
lots of great ideas and innovative forms get lost on the way between the papaer and the 3d model. sad but true!

And I think that traditional marqus like the british ones are suffering the most from these new laws. the high rear or the fat front bumper -as for the current XJ Facelift- are some of the results.

As for the headlights: I'm sure they will be reinterpreting the four ovals behing the glass, but come on.. almost every manufacturer is putting two ovals behind the glass these days. separate ovals are the more elegant and probabely the more "daring" solution.

True, regulations now have a direct influence on what cars look like, most notably the pedestrian safety and dumbo ear regulations. So manufacturers have to get clever in order to prevent their cars from looking like mishapes.

I got to disagree. I am big fan of the German executives (esp. a dark blue 535i with the Sports package :icondrool) but given the choice (and money), i would go with the XF. It has the right blend of luxury and sportiness. The interior is absolutely quality and unique.

Also don't take my word for it....

The XJ's have been praised for their ride quality and handling, their sore spot was their design. While decidedly unique, it was long in the tooth and antiquated. If done right, it'll be an absolute stunner and competitve, if not in volume, but content and design. And from the recent pics, the new XJ has immense potential. Now if we can get this pesky economy going in the right path.....

Next Jaguar sedan looks like stretch XK, with four-door "coupe" overtones

Is Jaguar planning a Panamera and Rapide challenger? Until now we've had speculation and spy pics, but Channel 4 is reporting that Jaguar officials have confirmed plans to "introduce a new saloon" later this year, that "takes the luxury saloon to new heights in terms of its technical enhancements." Although this new sedan will eventually replace the XJ in the company's lineup, it is said to be radically different from the traditional sedan. Imagine XF detailing on a four-door XK and you won't be far off from the vehicle that's due to show up later this year.

No official details have been reported, but Jaguar officials are apparently mentioning the Porsche Panamera, Maserati Quattroporte, Aston Martin Rapide and Mercedes-Benz CLS as competition. Engine options will likely include
Jaguar's new 3.0L V6 diesel as well as the new direct-injection, 5.0L gas V8s in naturally aspirated or supercharged form. The car should be revealed later this year, making 2009 a very busy year for the company. Jaguar is already set to unveil the supercharged XF-R, as well as updated XJ, XK and XKR models, along with its new V8 and V6 diesel engines at the Detroit Auto Show next week. We can hardly wait.

I hate how people keep comparing Porsche Panamera, Maserati Quattroporte, Aston Martin Rapide and Mercedes-Benz CLS, Volkswagen CC together, there not in the same Class. Just because they're "Four Door Coupes" doesn't mean that they are competition.:t-banghea

Re: Next Jaguar sedan looks like stretch XK, with four-door "coupe" overtones

Can't wait to see it. Jaguar needs some serious representation in the premium segment. The XF looks and drives nice, but it really does move the game on in other areas relative to the Germans. The XJ with the right tech and lightweight construction could do that. Jaguar should and proably will launch this car in the German's own backyard, Frankfurt this fall.

This thread should probably be moved/merged with the existing thread about the next XJ.

The tail lights don't match what we've been able to see on the spy photos, but I don't think we'll have to wait much longer. Rumor is that they'll reveal the next XJ as a C-XJ in Geneva.

Frankfurt is what I'd bet on. Right in the German's backyard.

If the new XJ looks anything like the C-XF Concept, Jaguar will probably sell more of the next-generation XJs in a month than they did in a year with the current-gen XJ. What I am truly worried about though is the interior styling. I wish they wouldn't make it look like the XF on the inside. No blue glow, no pop-up shifter please. A J-gate would please the traditionalists and the steering wheel paddles (like the ones in XF) would please the lovers of quick upshifts and downshifts.

While radical new designs are IMO the way to go for Jaguar, I hope Tata won't repeat Cadillac's mistake of completely breaking with the past traditions. I really wish they would make at least one model with the classic British looks - the kind of car the Leaper wouldn't look out of place on. I fear Jaguar might go too far in making their cars BMW fighters and alienate all the old clientele who loved Jag for what it used to be like for the last 2 decades, all faults and all.

The only thing official about the new XJ is that this is an official teaser video.

Mods, please rename the thread.

Lol:D

Man i was like this :eek2: when i saw the title of the thread.

What's up with misleading thread titles today?:D

I am really looking forward to see what the callum team has come up with this time.
