I rather say we've all gone crazy because the 5er hasn't even had a facelift yet and we're already checking out chops of a car that ovbiously hasn't been rubber-stamped yet.

And as I vividly recall - Autobild was pretty far off when it came to their (endless stream) of 5er chops 4 years ago. I'm mad that I threw away all those magazines because they'll be fun to reference as we make the runup to a new 5er.

C'mon guys, this CGI is a BS.

It will be about eighteen months before we see any evidence of a concrete final design proposal and they will not feature any cues from the design of current BMW models - This is pure fantasy design. Think of the next 5er as a potential CLS rival.

Next 5er will come with an evolutionary design, but with more narrower greenhouse - more coupeish look & appearence. Like scott said: more in CLS manner.

This is just a very rough sketch to start. We'll see major improvements soon, especially since the next 5er isn't due till '10.

Um.... Isn't it kinda early to speculate on what the next 5er is going to look like? We don't even have a read on the F01 7er yet.

It's probably a device used by BMW/Huckfeldt/Autobild to generate some interest in the next generation cars since they'll be here sooner than later(really). So really no one gone nutz yet, it's just reaction to a rather interesting concept produced by one of the worlds best automotivie impressionist for future projects. Huckfeldt has actually given us plenty of accurate impressions lately, especially w/ the latest MB's.

Amazing, can't wait to see what this results in. I also wonder how M will interepret "Efficent Dynamics" w/ the next gen M5? Time will tell...

Not just like CLS, but with similar narrow coupeish greenhouse. 5er will still be a true sedan not a coupe. But a profile appearence will be more coupeish.

Board decided BMW will not go with a 4-door coupe ala CLS, A7, Panamera etc, but will make core models - 5er & SWB 7er - more sportier, with dynamic styling, and coupeish look. Additional sedanish 4dr coupe would be totally redundant. The new Z8 / 8er will be a classic 2-door coupe.

The only 4-door coupe from BMW will be X6 Sport Activity Coupe.

Believe it or not actually like this! The headlights look much better than the currant model. The headlight design is more aggressive without those effeiminate looking eyelashes on the face of the currant model.

The grill on this ps is also larger, much better imo. The tail lights look like a ripoff of the new LS460 though.

Actually Moss, Huck misses the mark all the time. Take this X5 chop for example:



Typically, Huck gets things right when we're within 1 year of release. Must have a good source, those guys.

Huck usually gets it right, but only as the time approaches. Half the people in BMW don't even know what the 5er will look like yet.

Maybe two persons in BMW.

Since the design process has just begun only Van Hooydonk & Bangle have an idea how the car may look. The design teams are competing. The Board will chose the final design in fall 2007.

Only the general directions are known: a bit wider & longer, narrow coupeish green house, aggressive dynamic, evolution of E60.
