2010 Baby Rolls-Royce (RR4) Thread (Spy pics & info)

Regarding C-pillar: I was told there would be a small "privacy-window" in the C-pillar. That's also a RR limo trademark. Look at the C-pillar: without the window it would look horrendously huge & thick!

Obviously I was told WRONG! I found this info odd from the beginning since the official sketches showed C-pillar without privacy-window.

And now, looking at this spy pic where C-pillare is stripped of camo slightly, I can see no privacy-window at all, just huge & extra-thick C-pillar.

Prospective owners will get the first look at the new RR04 in a secret location somewhere in Paris , not behind the stand at the show during the Paris auto salon.

We have to wait till Geneva 2009 till the unveiling of the 102EX to get the first look at what you will get.
Me and a colleague are taking a Phantom Coupe to the Press day.

But BMW will be busy behind the scenes aswell as a closed off private viewing of the 7er , The Z4 Roadster will be there before it's world debut.

Nice to see it has suicide doors, one unique features on rolls royce. Will there be a LWB version also? and as for the interior, will the cabin have a new look or will it be only a little different from the phantom?

Yes, suicide doors are now a RR design trademark.

I'm a bit confused since there will be no privacy-window in C-pillar: since it was said that was a RR-limo design trademark. :t-hands:

Cabin will be less yacht-like (like in Phantom), but more car-like. With all the kitschy super-luxury trim though.

LWB: no plans yet. But if there will be a demand, I'm sure they will reconsider. Just like they did in Phantom case: when there was sufficient demand for LWB, and RR delivered it.

The extra thick C pillar is a nice way for execs to hide behind when in a traffic jam or something.

Overall, I think I am going to like the new 7er much more than this big beast. While underneath the same car, the Rolls looks big and massive, and the 7er sleek and elegant.

That's what privacy-window is for. With it's curtain which it can be closed to block the view on the rear bench, and so provide privacy to rear-bench passengers.

Eg. RR Phantom has such a typical RR feature.
I guess thick C-pillar without privacy-window demonstrates more chunky sporty & less formal image - like already seen on Phantom Coupe - and that Silver Ghost will follow such design as well:

I really don't like the look of that knob. I pray that it's just a substitute for the real knob that BMW don't want to show off before launch. Must be a knob used just for testing like with the F01 steering wheel. At least that what I'm hoping. The temperature regulator knob on the center console looks pretty much like the one from the F01 as well. Now I'm very worried as this could be taking Rolls Royce in the wrong direction. This could be just a F01 dressed in nicer leather, wood and body.

The first picture is showing a F01, right? The I-drive unit in the second picture looks completely different from the one in the first... the actual knob seems to be the same. I did'nt even notice that at first...

Yeah the iDrive knobs are the same as well as the knob on the dash regulating the temperature in the cabin. The facelifted E90 has the same idrive knob too.:eusa_snoo:eusa_snoo:eusa_snoo

C'mon. It's a pre-FEP testing prototype.
Of course they wont use the original knobs & buttons etc.

Eg. in Phantom prototypes they used wood-pattern plastics for the trim. And silver colored plastic buttons - not even galvanized ones but painted with solver color only.

Silver Ghost won't use any of visual parts from F02 ... Yet some systems behind are the same ...

No it has not. It's similar, but not same.

Before you get too excited.

The RR04 will follow it's larger brothers and use components and electronics found within other BMW Group products.
However understanding the need for Rolls-Royce to be-bespoke from BMW as BMW is Individual from MINI.

Once the production car is unveiled in it's entireity after the initial Teaser Concept at Geneva in March. Which is why RR are not attending Detroit as all attention is focused on Geneva and again at Frankfurt in 2009 for the launch of the production car.

You will see the fact that this will be a genuine Rolls-Royce right down to the switchgear and attention to detail , sure it shares quite a lot with the new 7er aswell as the platform but there will be no trace inside of what a majority of you expect it to be, It wont be like the Maybach or recognisable like the Phaeton in the Bentley Continental family.

Just as the current MINI features components featured with BMW and Rolls-Royce but designed to be Individual and specific to MINI.
Because these are prototypes - specific for engineering purpose and because they share with the 7er , The 7er parts bin will be raided and used with the original 7er pieces as finished interior prototypes come later.
in the development stage.

umm isnt that steering wheel pulled straight from the new 7er?

PS
Some more RR rumors from Mclaren P10 @ Carspyshots

HUGE RUMOR UPDATE~!!!!!

Rolls-Royce a rumored to be woring on a Bonneville racer, but the real news comes form after the car is through. Rolls-Royce have umored plans to push upmarket after the RR4 and varient hit the market. The plan revolves around a aluminum spaceframe uber luxury saloon, coupe, and cabriolet. The models would carry the EX100's 9.0 liter V-16 producing 750 BHP. These uber luxury liners will be larger then the Phantom but not by much, bringing them to roughly the size of a Maybach 62. The bodies will be made of aluminum to save weight, and these models will feature plenty of new features not seen on other Rolls-Royce models! As for the Bonneville Racer/supercar, I hear rumor that Rolls-Royce have plans to simply race it, and not build a model close to it for the streets, but there are also talks that Rolls-Royce wouldn't make a smaller model, and now we have the RR4.

This has been ongoing for years in fact an UK based publication brought it up again recently exactly similar to this article.
