2010 Baby Rolls-Royce (RR4) Thread (Spy pics & info)

I certainly hope it has its own 'personality' ....more sporty,

That's what it's going to be, a driver's car competing against the Flygin Spur. It will be a very welcomed car since I've seen a couple of rich folks here wheeling a Phantom like it's a 7er, and as you might have guessed they looked really stupid. A chauffeur is a must if you own a Phantom.

Spied Rolls Royce RR4 Begins to Reveal Shape

It has lot a part of the disguise, it look very nice, classic and phantom-like.

As announced by me & Scott quite some time ago: typical modern RR design cues - design trademarks, Phantom-like general design features, yet much sleeker, more rounded, less boxy & upright, more modern & youthful in details.

Mind the front is still heavily camoed - thick plastic cladding. The real front is more rounded & leaned-back. The rear is much more exposed.

Check the official sketches - they show the real deal:

Looks pretty good Tine. Will it actually have the backwards opening doors ..or is that just camouflage?

Suicide doors are a design trademark of modern RR (by BMW)!
(Silver) Ghost (baby RR) & it's variants will feature this design trademark as well.

Why do you always call EnI as Tine? Is it his real name?.

What about the grille ....will it be the traditional grille or one more like on the Phantom Coupé? ....oh, and will it also have the small side windows on th C pillar?

....he he, lots of questions for you Tine ;)

The grille will be more leaned-back - a bit more like Phantom Coupe. Definitely not temple-like as seen on Phantom. Yet expect the grille of baby coupe / cabrio to be even more radical.

Regarding C-pillar: I was told there would be a small "privacy-window" in the C-pillar. That's also a RR limo trademark. Look at the C-pillar: without the window it would look horrendously huge & thick!

Ghost will definitely feature Phantom-like silhouette - even the design cues will be similar / same. So, yes - it will be a mini-Phantom. Kind a. But rounder, sleeker, with more modern & youthful details (eg. grille, headlights, tail lights, rims, interior). The interior will be much less yacht-like as the one seen in the Phantom. Overall stance will be much more sportier & less majestic.

:t-cheers:

look at it this way. If the Phantom is a modern interpretation of classic Rolls-Royce then the RR04 is a futuristic interpretation of classic Rolls-Royce. @ BMW aswell as RR04 there is another name for this car :
The Maybach's Obituary.

There is such a car ... It's called F01 BMW 7-series. :D

It's just that I thought it was going to be more domestic like a drivers car similar to the Flying Spur but it still pretty much looks like a chauffeur driven car.

Oh, MB did a pretty good job of writing that obituary themselves - I doubt they need any help from RR for that.

^ So does this mean you guys see absolutely no future for Maybach? ....I'm not 100% sure about that just yet.

Maybach should do something fast.

When RR Silver Ghost is launched, and Bentley introduce the new Arnage, Maybach is dead. Mind Aston Martin is also joining the party with super-pricey Rapide.

The future of Maybach is coach-building. Like eg. Pininfarina, or Fisker - but in Maybach case with much more brand appeal. Super-exclusive & ultra-expansive individual vehicles.

MB should rather launch S600 Pullman, and ODC-based 4dr cabrio. With high-end models like CL (AMG), SLR, SLC, IMO that should be OK.

Since MB brand desperately needs a strong push further upstairs. Since other brands are rapidely closing the gap. Pullman (or another MB-branded limo beyond S-class) + ODC-like vehicle + SLC is just enough for a while.

Really ... let Maybach be a coach-building car manufacturer. With MB body-donors some very interesting cars may be produced. And MB better do that fast - before VW do that with Bugatti. 2 quite known coach-builders are too much. But this segment will be super-exclusive: individually built cars, and known brand.
