As history sometimes sort of repeats, David Coulthard escaped injury when his car went up in flames during today's first free practice session ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul Park. Seconds after whipping past the session's checkered flag, Coulthard spun his Red Bull racing car in the first corner, when witnesses saw a leap of flames from underneath. Thinking it might cool the car (note: and likely unaware of the conflagration), Coulthard continued the lap, but eventually ditched, as marshals surrounded the car to extinguish the flames. It was discovered a fuel leak on his RB3 caused the blaze, damaging car's electrical systems and wiring looms and leading engineers to swap out its Renault V8.

Looks like a Hamilton win. If he goes 10+ up on Alonso, I think it's lights out for Fernando and we'll have a new youngest WDC.

I don't think the McLarens have the race pace to challenge the Ferraris. Will take a misstake from Massa for Hamilton to take it.

It seem like both Mclaren and Ferrari are in great shape this week, it might turn out to be an interesting race. I don't recall every watching a race with Massa starting at pole, tomorrow we'll see if he's a good pole-fighter like Hamilton, Kimi and Alonso.

Good job by BMW guys...:usa7uh: Expecting a top 5 for them tomorrow... With Hamilton's win of course...

:t-cheers:

And that is the more reason why Massa won't screw up, and Hamilton won't try anything stupid at the stage of the championship.
All Hamilton needs to do is finish in front of Alonso and at worst finish two places behind Massa in this race, and he will inch closer to his WDC title.

Massa will not give in no matter what tomoro. he's done it in Spain, and his standings that time and now aren't much of difference.

It's Hammy we should look out for in case he tries anything unusual. remember, he's young. he won't have a mind of a champ like Alonso.

As for Alonso, he screws up this race ( which i think he will ), and he can start thinking about next season...

Due to the fires we've been having here...I had not been able to watch Qualifying...only though F1's live timing...and the same will go for the race from the looks of it.

I am also hoping that Ferrari will not do something silly with their drivers.

It's a Ferrari 1-2!!!

1. Felipe Massa
2. Kimi Raikkonen
3. Fernando Alonso
4. Nick Heidfeld
5. Lewis Hamilton

Great 1-2 victory for Ferrari, very lucky podium for Alonso, good racing from Nick and disappointing 8-th for Kubica. His strategy did not work very well. We can see also good progress from Renault, great performance from Kovalainen and usual disappointment for Fisichella. Great race. :t-cheers:

Long overdue 1-2.
I hope they can put it together in Monza as well.

Much needed 1-2, but still a long way back. Ferrari probably needs 1-2s the next five races to contest for the WDC and not 1-2s where Kimi and Massa trade wins. Pick a No. 1 for the last five races. That's what I'd do as Ferrari team boss.

Mclaren is indestructible this year, so hoping for DNFs is not realistic. Still, 15 points with 5 left is a huge mountain to climb.

I wasn't sure what Ferrari was going to do untill I saw Kimi making the pit stop first, that gave a me ray of hope that they may have decided to let the best driver win the race.
Of the two Ferrari drivers- I see Phil has having the best chances of bringing home the victories. I am hoping we have seen the last of the internal bickering between Jean and Luca on which driver to be team leader. Let the results determine the process, and support them equally.

With regards to nullifying the deficit, let us take it one race at a time, and hope for some ill fortune to befall on the TOUI drivers. This week was Lewis, maybe in a fortnight it will be Freds turn to have a broken suspension.
