Silly, daft, overdone looking car.

Sorry to come round and say that all over again. But actually, isn't that why it's called the Re-vent on? ;)

The main thing I love about that car is the dash, other than that, it ain't worth more than $20,000 over the regular one. The SV is far more special than the Reventon.

Exactly! I like the Revention, but the price tag is ridiculous for what it is.
Same goes for the Aston Martin.

At least the Aston isn't based on anything. It has it's own chassis, interior, well, pretty much everything. The reventon is basically a special edition Murci, not a brand new car.

That's true! On the other hand -

Aston Martin's amazing One-77 appeared out of nowhere and stunned the motoring world with its bold design and exorbitant price tag, which is expected to run in the vicinity of $2 million.

They are still asking to much for a car that doesn't even have the capabilities of the Bugatti Veyron, which is less.

Well, I guess there isn't a shortage of folks who'll pay such a price. If there were folks who forked out a million for a special edition Murci, why not a brand new Aston? ;)

True...Honestly if I had the money, I would probably buy all three.

My weekend...Aston on Friday, Lambo on Saturday and Bugatti Veyron on Sunday :icondrool:eusa_pray

Haha! Actually that was funny Martin!:xmas-sm2:
But enough of the diss-talk:
The Reventón is named after a fighting bull in keeping with
Lamborghini tradition. The bull,
owned by the Don Rodríguez family,
was best known for killing famed bullfighter Félix Guzmán in 1943.

Reventón means "explosion" or "burst" in Spanish.
In the vernacular, it is also used to define a very large party or a night on the town.
It's commonly said "vámonos de reventón", which means "let's go party tonight."
In automotive terms this last sense, Reventón means "he who seems to be about to burst".

:t-cheers:

There are some very paramount differences between the One-77 and the Reventon. Everything the One-77 is composed of is bespoke and if you browse through photos of it on google images, you'll grow to appreciate the elaborate mechanical underpinnings that makes the car worth it's price tag of 1 million pounds.

Let's not forget the critical number of 77 units. A large proportion of the price pays for exclusivity. Some people might live never to even see one of the 77 units planned for production. The rarity of the car will be seen a benefit for many car collectors and africandos who live in wealthy cities like London, Monaco and Dubai were a 599GTB is more common than a Volvo S80.

The Lambo is a disgrace and I've stood by that opinion since I first read the price. It is a supreme exercise in brand whoring much like the box of three Ferrari pencils I spotted in Paris for the obscene price of €15. Ferrari most certainly bought them in large quantities at a price of €0.001 each and rebranded them -- much like how VAG has done with the Reventon.

Yes, I guess if you don't mind paying for exclusivity then it probably is a good choice.

Lol...That is so true. I really hope Lambo builds a "proper" 1 million dollar car in the future.

It already exist and is called Veyron;)

Unit production is one of the key factors dictating the price of a car. The Alfa 8C is an excellent examples. From a technical point of view, it's no better than an AMV8 but command a staggering 250k price tag for the sole reason that production is limited to a mere 500 cars.

Eh, 500x2 = 1000 units = 500 Coupés / 500 Spiders
;) Also the 4.7-litre V8 is assembled by Ferrari:D

This I actually know cause I love the 8C Competizione

:t-banghea I completely forgot both of them were under VW. No wonder Lambo just dolled up the Murc. The Veyron actually limits Lambo's potential to go into a higher market. :eusa_doh:

Welcome to the death of car manufacturers as we know them. VAG have taken component sharing and blended their brands to the point were, like someone else commented a few weeks ago, car manufacturers are pure marketing packages. A new car is most likeley conceived in the way that a concept of the cars attributes are drawn up and when the executives simply decide what clothing it should wear i.e SEAT, Audi, Lamborghini or Bugatti. The independence of each car manufacturer has been eroded and in the process the brands lose some of their identity and are reduced to mere products conceived in a very corporate culture.

Yea, it is really sad that these companies are given limits thanks to VAG. Of course Bugatti never has to worry because they will always be given the best VAG has to offer. Bentley and Lambo probably will suffer the most. Which is why probably will never see a "extreme" lambo or a Bentley Sports Car.

And I wonder is this could be a reason for Lambo not doing anything with their four-door coupe concept.

I don't quite get all the Reventon dissing.

There's no contest it's only half the car the Veyron is. But let's face it: even that half Veyron is twice too much for me. In the end, I couldn't care less.

- the acceleration and perfs are staggering, largely enough for me to be in seventh hell. Few more hps here and few tenth less there won't make a difference in my non-pro-driver world.

- the noise of the Reventon is, for me, much more attractive than the one of the Veyron.

- the Reventon looks absolutely stunning, in my eyes it's just a work of art. The Veyron isn't as spectacularly threatening.

So in the end... in a reasonable world, the Veyron just blows the Rev apart. No contest. It's twice as fast, twice the technological piece, twice all what you want.

But the Reventon is such a gorgeous thing to look at, to hear, to feel, that all the numbers pulled down by the Veyron become secondary, almost insignifiant facing the burst of emotions provoked by the Lambo.

Driving the Veyron surely is unique, but for me the Reventon is the most spectacular, the most desireable, the most emotional. And that is what I want.

Well I think the Reventon is an outstanding supercar. I think the problem with it is that is really seems like a glorified Murc. It's almost like a S600 (Murc) vs S65AMG (Reventon). If Lambo built an all new Ultra Supercar from scratch and then asked a Million plus for it, then it would probably get better credit.

But by all means I would still love to drive a Reventon in the near future.

Rumormill: Lamborghini to unveil Reventón Roadster at Frankfurt show

Rumors of an open-air version of the exclusive Lamborghini Reventón have been circulating for months, with recent reports suggesting that the company has already shown a pre-production prototype to some of its best customers. Now sources suggest that the Raging Bull brand could be preparing to unveil the Reventón Roadster at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, with only ten to be built, packing the more potent 670 horsepower engine from the SuperVeloce.

By slapping on some edgy body panels and glitzy instruments, Sant'Agata managed to bump the Murcielago's price up into seven-figure territory, and they could do it again by lopping off the Reventón's roof (or slapping said panels on the Murci Roadster, depending on how you look at it). But while they could very well unveil the car in Frankfurt, with the Balboni edition Gallardo yet to make its public debut, they may also opt to make good on their commitment of a new product at every major auto show and keep the Reventón Roadster under wraps until a later date.
