Betty, I am not keen on entering any of the silly imbroglios on GCF, but it's time to let this go.

I'll "let it go" as long as Scott doesn't come into the same thread and mention release schedules. Questioning him is completely justified after the debacle from two months ago. You would have a point telling me to "let it go" if I made my post without Scott mentioning release schedules at all.

Scott was completely wrong with his "9th July launch". Why is he still posting about it? I would be utterly embarrassed if I was him. His credibility on this subject is zero yet he's posting as if nothing ever happened.

Now, I made a comment, Scott replied, and that's it. Skirmish over. No need for you to then make it a big deal again.

His comment about my "vindictive attitude" against "many members here" is utter rubbish. I don't have an issue with anybody on this forum.

Betty, as much as I value your constructive comments on this forum, you also have a habit of dictating terms of discussion on this forum as if you are in some lofty position to do so, i.e. "I said this and he responded, there's no need for you to enter this conversation." Keep in mind you made this comment on a public forum, not via PM to Scott, thus opening yourself to comments and scrutiny from any of the members here, including myself. And let me add that you are the one furthering the magnitude of this issue by continuing this issue with SCOTT, off and on, for the past two months and then responding to me in a manner as such that can be bordering on unnecessarily combative, so don't even think you can pin this on me.

I get the reason for holding someone's feet to the fire, but doing it so often, it's like beating a dying horse and the returns are diminished each time. At the end of the day, this is a car forum where we have fun and learn a thing or two. The stakes in the grand scheme of things are not very high. Now whether you let it go or not, is up to you. But you seem to value constructive discussion on this forum, and constantly bringing this up adds very little to constructive discussion.

As for SCOTT's credibility in my book, it's taken some beatings in the past, and this recent issue, I must say, is a rather big dent. I was annoyed when July 9th came and passed, and I would be even more annoyed if I was in the market for the car. Granted, I felt assured that nothing was going to happen on or around July 9th as there were no official teasers, etc. (hence my playful comment just prior to the 9th). I even had a chuckle in my head with his recent comments about the release schedule. But long ago, I learn to take any rumors on discussion forums with the right amount of salt, and with SCOTT, well, let's say his track record recently has not been exactly stellar. And, don't get me wrong, I still like what SCOTT adds to the discussion, if not all he has to add.

EDIT: I forgot my comment on the recent spy pics....

It's probably the tape on the upper edge hiding the 3D effect, but the headlight unit does seem bigger than what has been seen.

I made a comment and Scott replied. And then it was over. I had no intention for the discussion to go any further than that and disrupt the thread. Then you popped up questioning my motives for making a comment.

I don't keep bringing up Scott. I didn't make the comment "out of the blue". He came on here and talked about release schedules of the 5 Series. When he yet again starts making posts about release schedules in the same thread where he was proven to be absolutely clueless about them, then I think one sentence questioning this is perfectly justified.

I don't see why he should be able to get off, pardon the pun, scott free. What you seem to be saying is that he should be able to continue posting release schedules without anybody questioning it. That privilege ended after 9th July, in the same way somebody who is proven to be a liar about the cars they own no longer gets the privilege of people believing them when they announce their next new car. Once you lose your credibility you don't just get it back automatically.

Have the last word if you want but I'm not discussing this any further as it WILL disrupt the thread.

You're such a predictable provocateur. Like @klier. But please, for the love of god, stop clogging this forum with your to-and-fro nitty natter. The 9th of July in the online world was eons ago. Tomorrow is Spring Day in South Africa. 9th July was 2 months ago. Some statements on this forum are incorrect, even yours. Do we have to belabor the point?? Yawn..

It would be nice if BMW gave at least some "leaks" away of the actual exterior in september/Paris.

I think it will be a sh#t predictable dated design, with those bug-eyed headlights and lazy kicked up side lines.
Come debut time it will age faster than those bananas on your kitchen counter next to the microwave.

The previous f10 5-series is a handsome car. This one looks like a step backward imo.

Not bragging, but pretty sure we were the first to say Detroit launch :) And announce X2 in Paris.

The 5 Series was not delayed, it was never supposed to come to Paris or be released this summer. We fell for it initially also, but after talking to real sources, we stood corrected.

We will see the car in mid-October and likely some more teasers before.

Thanks for the info.

I was told by an official dealer the orderbooks were open for the 5er touring on Januari 2017. This date is postponed to summer 2017. So don't tell us it is not delayed. Add in Belgium.

Add 2 Maybe the introduction (internet) is not delayed, the delivery scedule is.

Was talking about press unveil, not production. As far as we know, Germany will get the 5 Series on sale in early 2017. But of course it varies market-by-market. US is likely to only get it next summer.

If you register with your (European) dealer your interest then they can put forward your interest to BMW in regards to special preview events happening from October.
I did that regarding the 7er, but didn't even get one single respond. The BMW partner in the part of Germany I live s!cks. Next time I'll register at a Niederlassung.
