3 Series BMW F34 3er GT: Spy Pics - Renders - Info

The BMW 3 series is a line of compact executive cars manufactured by the German automaker BMW since May 1975. BMW's best selling model, it is the successor to the 02 series. Since 2013, the coupé and convertible models have been marketed as the 4 Series. The M version of the 3 series, the M3, debuted with the E30 M3 in 1986.
Being a passenger of the 5GT is better than the 7... probably true, but sounds like the original A-class, which they sold as having more legroom than the S.

But heck the 5GT is so damn expensive.

I know the Zagato Coupe was just a one-off fun project...but looking at the face more, and knowing the 3er GT is soon to be shown, could the Zagato front be a subtle hint at what a 3er GT might look like from the front (eg: headlight shape, grille shape/size, intakes)?

Not sure if it's been answered before, but will the 3er GT be shown as an almost-production-ready 'Concept' (ala: 5 GT), or just unveiled in production form ?

That makes sense. Many of the recent new-addition models, such as the original X3, X1, X6, 5GT, 6GC were initially previewed with near-production-ready Concept's.

Could be ... but there are two other contenders for the pre-prod Concepts in Paris, beside 3er Gran Turismo: 4er Coupe (to announce upcoming 4-Series nomenclature) & 1er COMPACtive Sports Tourer (to preview BMW FWD minivan). IMO the latest one has the most "Breaking News!" factor, and this best chance to be presented as a Concept before being launched.

X3 was a new "series", so was the X1. X6 was a completely new idea - a SAC. So was the 5er GT - a luxury cross-over / hatchback. 6er GC was BMW's first 4dr coupe.

So in this regard 3er GT isn't that special. 4er Coupe is a known car with different badge (eg. the same MB did with CLK --> E-coupe). While 1er CT is a completely new design & model, not to mention first BMW FWD model.

In this respect eg. future sub-1er has better chances to be shown as a Concpet than eg. X4.

Btw, BMW have registered some interesting trademarks lately ... more in a dedicated thread. :)

Like a 5-Series GT, only smaller and more attractive

Our spies have snapped some rather interesting photos of what we have always assumed was the BMW 3-Series GT.
The latest pictures reveal the prototype is equipped with the front fascia and taillights from the BMW 4-Series. This leads to speculation that the model will actually be called the 4-Series GT.
Regardless of the name, the model will be offered with a variety of engines sourced from the 3-Series. As such, petrol choices could include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 184 PS (135 kW / 181 hp), a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo with 245 PS (187 kW / 251 hp) and a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with 306 PS (225 kW / 302 hp). On the diesel side, there could be a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with outputs of 116 PS (85 kW / 114 hp), 143 PS (105 kW / 141 hp) and 184 PS (135 kW / 182 hp).
The model could be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, before going on sale in March 2013.

Niiiice, Eni! Great scoop! Not much to be seen really, but the roofline looks pretty good!

The Hofmeister has evolved into something that can hardly be called a Hofmeister Kink, though.. Still it looks good.

Thanks a lot for sharing that picture with us, Eni !!!!
That's a real contribution to our forum!
Keep us well informed about the 4er too, please :)

I read somewhere a while back that BMW will have Hofmeister kink as design signature for only mainstream sedans and coupes. The SAV, SACs and GTs will have a evolutionary kink as their own design signature kink identifying the each line. Not sure how much of it is true. Maybe Eni or Scott can confirm.
