CLK-Class (C209) Your favorite E-Coupe/CLK ??? (discussion also includes older Merc Coupés)

The Mercedes-Benz C209 is the second generation CLK-Class, launched in 2002. The car was available in both hardtop coupé (C209) and in soft-top convertible (A209). Although its design and styling was derived from the E-Class, the mechanical underpinnings were based on the smaller C-Class. It was succeeded by the E-Class C207. Production: 2001–2009.

Loved the original W208 and was thoroughly disappointed with the pencil head roof-line of the C209 that pretty much eliminated the adjective "sexy" from the list of words one might typically choose from when describing the CLK. The new C207 (or whatever it is, I've fallen out of the MB model nomenclature tree) is absolutely GORGEOUS. I love every aspect of it's design from the angular headlight design to the graceful and flowing roof-line and the tastefully aggressive rear wheel arch detailing. The car has only one downside: PRICE.

^ I watched this particular car being off-loaded from the trailer and rolled onto the dealer lot into their garage and it was a sight to see in the biggest way I never thought I'd experience with an MB ever again. This particular car is an E550 coupe with a few option packages that totaled out to something around $65k. Expensive but more than worth every penny I am absolutely sure. I'm seriously contemplating going for a used 350 coupe in a few years as I'm sure the price will make the car a lot more realistic by then, but I still don't want another used car if I can truly help it. This car is quite special though.

Its a tough one that as they are all stunning cars in my book but the 208 has the edge for me. From a rear 3quater view it verges on being pornography for me.

Personally i think the w209 is the best... but i may be a little biased lol

The w209 chassis had two of the most awesome cars Mercedes ever made;

I Voted "Older Models" as you can't keep up with the Classic Merc Coupes. The only modern E/CLK Coupe that I truly loved during its time on the market was the C208 CLK. The C209 is nice, but doesn't always have that wow-factor. The C207 is meh/okay, with moments where I see one that does look very nice, and moments when I see one and think it looks awkward and halfway terrible, IMO it looks like a cheaper 2-Door looking version of the E Sedan, and tries for that wow-factor yet doesn't attain it as effortlessly as the C208 did.

Either one will do, but the image is a great illustration of the change in automotive design and build that took place in the eighties. The 123 is clearly a manmade beast whereas the 124 was born in a wind tunnel.

The last version of the CLK, in AMG Black Series guise is just mind-blowing.

I hate the E-coupe/cabrio with a passion.
