Everythings work - OMG - first I thought, the discussion got lost…

…and for me, it is definitely the C209! Best looking Coupé - next to the C215 Mercedes ever build! Nevertheless there are a lot of stunning Coupé before 1970…

The C207 is absolutely spot on for it's target market. I'm fond of the predecessor but their driving dynamics and appearance were too soft, mature and slightly old fashioned for the young crowds who buy cars like the 3-Series coupe, A5 and E-Coupe. My least favourite CLK is hands down the C208, it and the W210 E-Class are my to least appreciated cars from Mercedes.

Could it be possible to add the C123 to the list? 'cause it'll get my vote, Wimmer's too I think, and in fact I think it'll be one of the contender for the title.

In fact after reflexion, I'll pick the W114/5 Coupe (the /8 designed by Paul Bracq). Somptuous, but so rare...

Definitely my winner, by a margin. Too bad they're so rust-prone...

The C123 will come as second.

Then comes the C124.

Looong after those three, the W208 (based on looks only).

After them it'll be the C207.

I never could stand the soft and weak W209.

Thanks ree, but in fact I went for the 114/5 model...

And as it seems, I'm pretty much the only one who went for older than the C124...

Maybe problem is, that most of us don't know a lot about the older Coupés (produced before 1980)! A list with all Merc Coupés ever build would be great! And I ask myself, if the C219 CLS also belongs in here?!

Yeah, sure. The W124 and its Coupe sibling is still relatively common, but the cars before it tend to be rare. Unless you're specificly interested in them, you won't really know them.

I'm sure many have no clue as to how a C123 or /8 Coupe could look like... And as this forum is not really about young/oldtimers...

Especially youngtimers will become quite rare at the roads too!! Since we have this horrible scrappage bonus here in germany, a lot of youngtimers (also those, which are in good condition) will be destroyed!

Nevertheless most of the older Coupé (including C123 and /8) look absolutely beautiful! Also loved the W111 Coupé!!

We have this destroy-bonus in France too. Many wonderful, yet still not looked after youngtimers will disappear because of that.
However, France is very differnt than germany in that respect. Many of our youngtimers are in a revolting state, absolutely not serviced...

French cars tend not to age very well, so in France, youngtimer = cheap car you don't care about. Even german ones.
W123, 201, and 124 are all in a desperate state, older Bimmers are riced-out pieces of rust, older Audi, Opels and Fords have disappeared.

Seeing a well-maintained, shiny youngtimer is very rare in France, unlike Germany. So the cars that are destroyed are often not to save due to a prolonged lack of maintain and care...

For me, C-124 is the coupe that carries the Benz's spell all around her! She looks classy yet fresh!
