While I respect and love all the choices, however, you just don't say no to a sexy Italia(n) that not only has curves but is a screamer! :D

Wait, what were we talking about?

Here's the ranking, just for giggles:
1) 458...Ferrari are the masters. GTs, sportscars, and racecars are what they do. That's it.

2) LFA. Lightweight screamer of a V10. Lightweight CF body/structure aith Al subframes. I like the fact it's a big FU to the other guys. (If the McLaren MP4 was included, it'd be tied for the LFA, the level of engineering, efficiency, and the fact it's a complete ground-up effort, like the LFA..outstanding.)

3) SLS. Gullwing doors are cool. Period. The interior is nice, but not nice enough... I like the LFA way more. The exterior is nice, but it's too soft and retro...it looks more like GT than a full-on sports car. I'm sure it handles pretty well, but when I look at, my heartrate stays the same.

4) R8 V10. Great effort by Audi. the design is very avant-garde (as I wrote that, i could see how that may be an intended pun, but it's not). The interior is beautiful and ergonically sound. But call me desensitized.

Also, for the sake of inclusion, I'd put the Balboni Gallardo between the LFA/MP4 and SLS....a RWD Gallardo, well, that's just lovely, innit? The Porsche 911 GT3 997 MkII is a track monster and commands my respect, thus tied with the SLS. The GTR specV is tied with R8 V10.

1. R8
2. SLS
3. Ferrari

.... Lexus

My thoughts precisely.

I love the Audi R8, always have. It's classy, elegant and also dynamic in design and the car works well as a serious sports car and cruiser too.

The SLS has that emotional connection to the infamous Gullwing with a new design interpretation. Who cares about the performance when you're driving a car that looks good and instantly lets people see the connection to the past.

The Ferrari is aggressive, sleek and continuous that tradition of making alluring cars that people lust for no matter what. It's also all in the name: FERRARI!

The Lexus....

I have no doubt that the LF-A will be an amazing car (it should be after such long testing) but it means nothing to me. There is no lust or desire on my part for it. Maybe it's because I feel that Lexus, who are so damn conservative and risk-free, feel that they can only be given serious credentials elsewhere through the production of a supercar. The Lexus brand name to me means nothing and has zero appeal. I will always view them as a gussied-up Toyota that was simply created so that Toyota can have a luxury brand. They're emotionally empty - and now they have a supercar? Lexus is a brand that to many raises zero emotions. Supercars are all about emotions and the LF-A is another bland and boring Lexus product. An amazing performer? No doubt. Emotional, exciting and lustful? Hardly.

What really gets on my nerves about the LF-A is how the Lexus fanboys are already talking about that "best interior in its class as is usually the case with Lexus cars!" - EPIC FAIL.

I raise you all with this one. I saw a Balboni last night, gun metal grey with Italian plates.

If it doesn't count then here is my hierarcy:

1. Audi R8 V10 -- the working class man's super car. Solid styling with stellar performance.

2. Ferrari 458 Italia -- respectable successor to the F430 although I'm still getting to grips with the weird styling.

3. Mercedes SLS -- Gullwing revived with specs that impressed me 3 months ago but will in 2010 be below average. The design and shape is a bit too gimmicky for my taste.

4. Lexus LF-A -- a riced out Supra on steroids. Very big opportunity missed by Lexus. Concept car was a stunner, production car is a demonstration that Japanese car manufacturers don't know how to design performance cars with touching designs.

Exterior:purely personnel subjective view,Merc SLS is the ugliest in the group,the others three looks better;

Interior:Lexus is the best,Ferrari second;

Technology and Performance:Ferrari and Lexus;Ferrari may be better in specification.

Price and Economy:Lexus is the worst.

+1 to the LP. Monterey Blue is a stunning colour.

from the choices given, its actually pretty hard for me given that the R8 is the only car thats not ugly.

I cant STAND the way the SLS looks. hyundai rear end with an S2000 side profile. yuk. the F458 looks better. the details on it are a bit wierd but the design is FAR more proportional than the SLS. the Lexus's details are also wierd but overall it looks much better than the down-syndromed SLS.

so in terms of looks alone I rank them as R8,458,LF-A,SLS.

In terms of performance, the R8 is about as quick as the previous generation Gallardo. although this is impressive, the competition has moved on and the R8 V10 isnt even close to an LP560 or F458. given the specs the LFA will likely be quicker than the SLS. given the specs from Lexus, the LFA will also be slightly lighter than a F458. so performance wise the ranking are probably as follows:

458, LF-A, an a tie between the R8 V10 and SLS.

my overall pick would be the 458 with the LF-A and R8 V10 tied and in dead last the SLS. I think its silly to discredit a car based on brand alone. from the videos we have heard the LF-A is easily the best sounding car in this bunch too. the choice between the R8 V10, LF-A and F458 is a really close on for me.

edit: I voted for the LF-A. though really close with the F458. its probably just as quick, if not quicker, sounds better, looks just as good (or just as bad lol), and is more rare than the Ferrari. and given its a Toyota, it will keep running even when the Ferrari is in the shop.

I cant STAND the way the SLS looks. hyundai rear end

Where is this Hyundai rear end you speak off?

All I see is retro-design.

with an S2000 side profile. yuk.

Whoa! Looks like you need to hammer on cars like the Dodge Viper, Jaguar E-Type, '68 Dodge Charger and even the original '54 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing for having the obviously patented Honda S2000 side profile. Wait a minute...

sorry but the side of the SLS looks just like the side of an S2000. doesnt look like a Viper or anything else. you could draw the side or an S2000 and easily mistake it for the SLS.

Retro sucks. plain and simple. it means the design already looks old. let the classics be. stop trying to imitate them. there are so many great design minds out there who arent being used. utilize them for god's sakes!

as for the rear, it looks cheap. look at the SLR's rear end. its proportional, modern and it BELONGS. the SLS looks demented. its headlights are too far apart, and its grill too ugly by modern standards. I personally cant stand old designs. I just dont think old car look good at all, and going "retro" is silly. people are so resistant to change. no matter what happens its always "it was better before".

Yet no sighted person will ever mistake a SLS for a S2000 or Viper in real life. Like the Lexus is some kinda beauty, purposely good looking, mean, yes, and yes, but a beauty it isn't. The SLS is definitely a prettier car IMO.

I feel that the ultra low, flat profile of the SLS is part of its unique charm. It doesn't look like anything else out there. And certainly, it is the more elegant of the two when parked next to an LFA.

Wow. I think that's the worst anyone's said about the SLS.

Well, to each his own...:usa7uh:

Honestly, the Mercedes, Audi and Ferrari all have a certain level of sophistication about them that the Lexus lacks. Lexus has a more street racer look to it. The SLS has a look that is unmistakenly Mercedes-Benz, where the Lexus could be rebadged and no one would know the difference.

I'm even starting to love the R8 V10 more and more.

The LF-A would actually be near the top of my list, because it's a very admirable first attempt by Lexus to create a supercar. Here's a company that has nowhere near the amount of experience that Ferrari, Mercedes, and Audi had in creating sports cars, bravely ventures out and creates one that can run with the best in the industry. In addition to the incredible amount of engineering involved in such a task, the LF-A proves that Lexus does have balls.

It's only not the top of my list cuz it's not a proper stick. Gimme the Valentino Balboni Gallardo please. :D What better way to honor a legend?

Thats nice, but not true at all. Toyota has had many years of experience building sports cars and what they don't know they'll copy. A first Lexus sports car is all in name only, its Toyota who designed and builds the car, with a dollop of Lexus marketing thrown in so it can be sold for a premium price. The LFA could have been the next Supra if they wanted volume/lower prices.

For me since there is no Lambo in the mix it would be.

1. SLS, its just pure art, I just want to own one so much i wouldnt care if it was a 1.8 id still choose it over the others.

(Gallardo would be here)

2. R8, its sounds great, looks the part, and is more than likely built a nuclear bunker and could even be used as a daily drive.

(997 GT2 would be here)

3. 458, Ive always been more of a Lambo man but i have huge respect for Ferrari.

and for the Lexus. Im sure it puts all the right figures in and will be well built but for me it just leaves me numb, when i look at the others i think wow and wonder what it would be like to drive them and own them. where as with the Lexus i just think thats a very expensive and very very late replacement for the Toyota Supra, but thats just me.
