WOW ree.... freakin' awesome!!!

How on earth did you get the focus so clear and crisp? What aperture, ISO and shutter speed settings did you use for that photo?

Amazing how sharp the flower is....and also, very creative approach in enhancing the look with selective colouring.

Many thanks, beemer! And also many thanks to Dominix!

My camera was in Automatic mode, when I shoot this photo!! You will find detailed overview here - much easier before I start to list these things here:

Flickr: More detail about Flower & Bee

First I just wanted to photograph the flower, but then the bee flew in… :usa7uh:…was impressed by myself, that the colours and the focus was so clear…

Took the photo around lunchtime…the sun was at her highest point and it was one of the first real great days in the year without a cloud or anything!

Thanks for the quick explanation Dominix. :)

Can I ask one more quick question... is it any better shooting in RAW? I've never really considered it (and hence never bothered to do any research on it as yet), but what sort of differences are there between shooting in RAW format compared to JPEG?

Thanks again buddy! :)

Well, when you shoot in RAW there is more work in PP with converting images. And files are significantly larger than jpg.

But the advantages of RAW are: usually when shooting RAW you get sharper photos and higher image quality, bypassing of undesired steps in the camera's processing, including sharpening and noise reduction, RAW images are uncompressed so maximum amount of image detail is saved, RAW allows you to control more parameters in PP and so on...

Here are few useful links and if you need anything just ask, that's what we're here for!:t-cheers:

Cool!

It's ok using the automatic mode in the first time, but I'd suggest you reading the owner's manual and when you understood everything, put your camera on Manual mode. It's the best way to learn photography and correlation between shutter speed, ISO and aperture.

Yep, I know!! This is going to be the next step I want to do!! Was on photographing tour this evening again, and get some nice shots…again in automatic mode…because the sun was extremely fast going down and the boat was not slow too…so I had to decide (first I wanted to shoot them in manual mode), but I also want to get these shost. :usa7uh:

Great shots, Ree. Love the first and third one. :)

These three shots are a selection of about 50 shots I took of these two male ducks fighting over a female. They're not that good (in my opinion) but I figured they're also fascinating in some sort of animalistic way. :eusa_thin

Wow!!! Looks perfect! I would like to visit you for some weeks… :D …the sun is shining here, but still a bit cold - colder then 4 weeks ago, when the sun was already burning.

Meet my little friends Savannah and her little sister Shia. I was wanting to change up a little after my sins Saturday night so I decided to go to church just for a change. I sit in the back row and these kids start showing up. Their Mommy was there coming on to me... when these two started begging for a stick of gum... (Low and behold her friend comes over and starts breast-feeding her baby right in front of me.) not used to this

It was like I had to keep these girls quiet during church service for about 4hrs and I was tired as heck. I`m just not used to childern...

It is half an hour drive from Rovinj (40 km)..That place is just beautiful, there are many high rocks from where you can jump, there are also some caves in which you enter from the sea. It is spectacular, and the color of the sea is also unbelievable!

Ah, good. Cos I've never really been on excursions outside Rovinj and the surrounding islands of course.

Like Arnold said, I'll be back - and explore everything naturally!

i can only underline it, exploring croatian coats really pays off.
there is so much history around - nearly untouched. also the sea food alone would be worth a trip.
my plan is to visit croatia next year again, we will see how this develops.

Well I decided to dig-up some older photos from my hard-drive (older as in taken over 3 months ago), and I found a bunch of photos that I had intended to convert into panoramics but never got around to doing that. So now that I have a little bit of free time I used ArcSoft Panorama Maker 4 to create some nice looking panoramics.

Shark Bay, Sydney - went here to watch the start of the 2008 Rolex Sydney-to-Hobart Yatch Race

Qantas 747-400ER wing - Flying from Los Angeles to Sydney I decided to try a panoramic of the aircraft's wing

Euroka Clearing Lookout, Sydney - Went to spot some wild kangaroos and ended up finding this beautiful lookout view (notice how small the person to the far right of the photo is. This is a very wide-view panoramic)

Opera House, Sydney - My first attempt at a vertical panoramic. Was originiall colour, but I think it looks much better in Black & White format.
