CLK-Class (C209) Yet Another CLK63 AMG Roadtest...

The Mercedes-Benz C209 is the second generation CLK-Class, launched in 2002. The car was available in both hardtop coupé (C209) and in soft-top convertible (A209). Although its design and styling was derived from the E-Class, the mechanical underpinnings were based on the smaller C-Class. It was succeeded by the E-Class C207. Production: 2001–2009.

While Audi has equipped the sizzling new A4-based RS4 Cabrio*let with a 414bhp 4.2-litre V8 unit, Mercedes has managed to squeeze an engine that’s a whole two litres bigger under the bonnet of its CLK Convertible.

And the results are staggering. The CLK63 badge is slightly misleading – the engine’s capacity is actually 6.2 litres – but that’s no drawback when you consider what’s on offer. Developing 481bhp and 630Nm, power is up 31 per cent and torque 23 per cent on the 5.5-litre V8 machine that it replaces.

I hate to say it Merc1, but I'm quite bored with the CLK .....I'm glad it's being replaced soon.

Well you know I was never a huge fan of this bodystyle CLK either until recently. However the facelift and new engines have given it new life in my eyes. I was admiring a CLK550 Cabriolet parked next to me the other day, and I now think this current CLK has finally come into its own. The car is really a luxury cabriolet now. The CLK63 is just icing on the cake to me.

the Cabrio is boring car. when I was in Geneva I sat in the CLK63 Coupe. Coupe much better looking than Cabrio.
