M3/M4 BMW Introduces Yet Another Special Edition M3 Coupe for China

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

The new Chinese-market M3 special is all about colors with buyers having a choice of two unique exterior finishes, gunmetal grey or black. In both cases the bespoke color is created by combining a metallic finish with a silky matte clear coat. Other cosmetic tweaks include the black chrome side air intakes and exhaust tail pipes, the red brake calipers and the lightweight 19-inch high-gloss alloy wheels.
Inside, BMW’s designers opted for carbon fiber decorative trim and matching special black carbon fiber leather for the seats along with contrasting red seams for the seat edges and door armrests.
The Chinese-market BMW M3 Matted Edition is powered by the same naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V8 engine found across the standard M3 lineup that churns out 420 horsepower and 400Nm of peak torque.

Are they doing the whole seats in that carbon fibre style leather that they use for the interior trim?

I like the dark green interior..looks great with the CF:)

Let's try to keep it politically correct in here. Thanks for understanding. :)

You May mock, but these editions sell out and very quickly in fact.

Of course, otherwise they would not have been painted... sorry, made. :D

I'm a bit curious - is the urge for these special editions stronger in certain markets?

No I made a Joking remark about what they ATE, while you were being sincere about how Americans are stupid. There is a difference.

In any case I was fine with all of it until these specific posts where deleted.

Inappropriate comment is inappropriate, no matter what others have posted before or not. We'll have a look at the posts you've brought to our attention, so let's please stop this discussion here. I'll keep you both updated via PM.

Looks good the carbon fiber trim is a must if you ask me. But does any of it warrant a special edition tag attached to it? Probably not, just seems a bit gimmicky.

The interior is not of M3 but of 3 Series Perforamnce. Look at the center console, the 3 buttons are missing.

Special edition works in China, people there wana be special, and i guess their rather shallow experience with cars mean that they are rather inexperienced in personalising their cars to make it unique. so for these people who wants to be unique and stand out, they would want a "special" edition. whereas elsewhere in the world no one probably cares about a special edition being just small colour differences or trim differences, i mean i can always get aftermarket parts to make it my car. my thought.

I don't know what is with Asian cultures and special editions. Walking around Malaysia there were 100's of 'special edition' fragrances that you just don't get elsewhere.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
