Yet another VW in the stable: '90 Mk2 GTI 8v

Hey guys!

I've owned my Mk2 GTI for a good 7 months now and I'm sheepish to admit I haven't shown it to you guys yet! Well, except for Hassan who has had a seat in it.

As you guys may know I own a MkV GTI back home. I wanted so badly to try something RWD, but then my budget didn't allow it - it seems insurance for RWD cars are all so high (if you don't count the MX-5). So, I settled for a Mk2 GTI and decided to find out where it all began.

Here are some landmark shots from the past few months. The car fits a new exhaust this week! It seems to be needing constant work but then it is an old car after all.

Enjoy!

First spring.

Supposed to be 16v rims, but what the heck, they look good!

Just got a used stainless steel Scorpion exhaust into the car today. The old stock exhaust was made of mild steel and as such was rusting quite badly at some parts. I decided to change it all at one go.

That is bad ass man! Pretty low milage too for a car that is meant to be driven and not to mention that old.

Thank you man! You're rocking a MkIII Golf too I see, congrats! These old VWs seem to go forever.

I'm aiming to hit as much mileage as I can with this one! It has been neglected in the garage for many years and it shows in how many parts I needed to be replaced. Sometimes, not driving a car is also as bad as driving it hard!

I'll post updates here from time to time. ;)

BTW, the exhaust is heavenly! It finally restored my mid-range poke that was missing for time already after the exhaust blew a hole. Now the power feels rich and potent in the low and mid, which was really what I was looking for. The sound is great too, not too loud and really mature - a bit of a surprise as everyone on the internet said all the aftermarket stainless steels tend to be very noisy. No more droning on the highway which nearly made me deaf.

So far, for 75 quid for a used exhaust in good condition, I am very happy! :t-cheers:
