If you had to choose one car from today's MB linup, which car best represents the Mercedes' brand the most?
For me, it has to be one of Mercedes' saloons. As much as I like cars like the SL-class, I would have to narrow my choice between the S-class and E-class. The S-class has always symbolized the ultimate in technology, refinement, and luxury. However, the E-class has always represented the more "attainable" car for many people, yet still maintain an aura of upscale prestige/refinement/luxury/technology. I've read in the past that the E-class and its predecessors are the best selling lineup in Mercedes' history. The C-class is just too low on the totem pole compared to the E- or S-class to represent a brand like Mercedes Benz.
So in the end, I'm going to say E-class by the narrowest of margins. The S-class is still the ultimate Mercedes saloon, but the E-class stikes the best balance between the "ultimate" and what people actually buy.
Make sure you check out the Audi and BMW forums, as I will post a similar question there.
