I don’t even think he had it up for even a second before it was down, it’s piss poor judging, it would be be counted in only lifting.
They never seem to make them keep it up for very long - 7:10 previous WR. It's like in the dumbbell press, they never hold that up long either. Or in squats where they bounce the weights off the stops at the bottom and never quite make full depth, it's Strongman not powerlifting.

I like how the commentators are ignoring Thor's 501, rightly so IMO, the record should only be valid if it's set at a competition.
TBH, I agree. Setting a record in your in your own time at your home or local gym isn't the same as travelling somewhere else and setting it to someone else's schedule, regardless of adjudication. That doesn't take away from the fact it was an impressive feat though.

Someone forgot to give that message to Pudz. Not a power lifter but he was 5 times Worlds Strongest Man, he always turned up in awesome shape.

Depends on the weight class, it's separated into weight classes. People in the sub-110kg classese tend to be less blubbersome. Once you're above 140kg though there's no incentive to weigh less, other than your health.

That would help with speed in strongman because there are loading, carry and medley type events but in powerlifting, which is a different sport, it doesn't matter as much, although if you weigh more, you have to squat more weight and your own weight will also hinder you on deadlift too to some extent. Maddox only does bench though so no issues for him.

Maddox has talked about transitioning to strongman after he's set his 800lbs record.

I think he will probably need to be in better shape for that, he will also need to work on squat and deadlift, I've never seen him do more than 800lbs in either of those two, which is kind of weird - being able to bench more than you can squat and deadlift.

I guess gymnastics falls under the heading of Calisthenics from a strength perspective. Definitely some insane strength. They have one rep max records in Calisthenics too.
