The car looks great... I really like the colour, sadly it isn't blue. :D In my opinion, it was the right decision to change the Phaeton into an A8.

Thanks ree. I'm not sure what colour it is, I think it's Aurora Blue. So it's some kind of blue anyway. ;)

This could be right ... - but "blue" and "blue" is a substantial difference. :D Nevertheless you can really consider yourself happy to drive such an impressive car. :t-drive: :t-cheers:

So the Phaeton is gone? Congrats on your new car :eusa_clap

I expect some classy black-on-white pictures of the A8 in the automotive photo competition ;), like you did before with the Phaeton.

BTW, I really like the light-colored leather with the (poplar?) wood, although the darker wood (don't know the name) with sadle-brown leather is amazing too for the A8.

The A8 is so understated and elegant. Congratulations!

The flamboyant Maserati and cool A8 would offer such unique experiences to satisfy whatever mood you may be in. :usa7uh:

About the Phaeton being ''over-engineered''. I believe the overall depth of engineering in the 7, S and A8 is superior. What VW has successfully captured with the Phaeton is the Teutonic heft that was once such a characteristic of German Cars, particularly old Benzes. Meanwhile, The others have made significant engineering advances in refinement, ride, handling, comfort, ergonomics, noise, safety, electronics aids etc. Details like the S-class's chassis with its unique ‘honeycomb’ like structure to filter NVH intrusions from the outside, Presafe 2, Distronic plus etc. are what I would consider ‘over-engineering’. Same goes for the Audis painstaking aluminum construction and BMW’s pioneering I-drive system.

Yeah, it is gone... :(

More photos coming up soon, after my exams which is in 2 weeks.

I think the wood is Birch. :usa7uh:

Thanks Mr. M!

I agree with what you say - the Phaeton has gone for the traditional route, the tried-and-tested ways of constructing an automobile, while the rest of the lot has moved on and experimented with new technology to achieve the same thing. Both are good, it really depends on preference. For fuel and resource efficiency the new methods are probably better.

The car just replaced its suspension bushings or something like that - it had hairline cracks that needed to be rectified immediately. That's what happens when you use aluminium... :D
