There are multiple things going on for car producers and dealers to make more money, inspired by Tesla, (maybe Tesla keeps it reasonable, I don't know). Anyways Elon is already stuffed. The others are not, they loose money. EURO7 or GSR2 it costs them a heap load of money.
So they want to make more money on you after you bought the car...the strategy goes like this....
- Make a monopoly on service and repair, like Tesla
1. Don't make it last too long... Make the car faulty with plastic and lower quality "planned obsolescence" preferrably right around the warranty expires, mechanical things are an ass..... they can't be timed exactly.... What mechanics can't fix we do with software and harass you before warranty expiration so you buy a new one.....
2. A new car is a surveillance platform, they have face camera, telemetry, they see you and hear you in your "own" car, surely this is because of safety, but luckily enough, they can share and sell your behavior, to of course none other than insurance companies among others..... Premium?
2. Subscriptions, you loose functionality that's already installed in YOUR car, that you bought and thought were your own, good lucky you will have to pay a subscription fee.... Your like a printer owner trying to avoid paying $999999 for an "original" ink cassette.... Experienced that before?
3. Make every part an income for the dealer/factory and tag them with an ID or similar so every repair, no matter what needs a dealer software unlock to work at a very premium hourly rate. Even if is just the brake pads.... Great.... We are consumer idiots that can be harassed beyond imagination, because we're idiots, and behave that way.
4. Prohibit any competion, independent garages, will not be able to do updates via OBD port because they made an encrypted firewall behind OBD, illegal, most certainly....
It's incredible, in a decade all these crook's VAG, BMW, MB, Stellaris, GM, Ford will be bankrupt I hope... And 20-30 years ago, some of them made great, inspirational driving and durable cars...
