Ιt's not bad but i also think that the Ibiza is better.:eusa_thin

PS. The front has too much Golf in it.

Great... now the Golf and the Polo looks 99% the same at the front, what were they thinking? Can't the designers be a bit more creative?

Looks great imo. 100 times better than the Ibiza. That is one ugly SOB

The Golf lights looks nice on the Polo, since it's a bit smaller. The rear is not what i expected, but it's still ok. I'm very curious to see the interior.

I like the fact that the overall design looks very elegant and complete, yet down to earth, not like the Ibiza for example that looks like it's gonna take off!

Yeah, I know. And I do. But somehow, this new Ibiza looks really weird to me. Those lines just don't flow properly imo.

I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread, given that the Polo is the best selling car in SA at the moment. It's a very significant launch this. I gather that the torsion beam rear suspension remains - no hope of leveraging of the re-tooled, cheaper multi-link axle from Golf 6?
 
The torsion beam suspension is the only option for the segment. A multi link would be a commercial suicide as it would drive the price higher than the competition.

I understand that implicitly. However, people said the same thing of the Focus Mk 1 when it brought Control Blade technology to the market. VW merely proved that, if over-engineered, the independent rear suspension assembly can be a drain on profitability.

So, in the interests of progress, wouldn't it be nice if we'd see this technology moving down range in this, the most premium offering in the segment. After all, MINI offers independent rear suspension...
 
VW staff at the Geneva VW stand at the Palexpo seem to be slow on the uptake when pointed out that the Polo has already been unveiled outside the Hall.

A spokeswoman pointed out with several Polo models covered up (one could possibly be a GTi due to the blingy wheels you can see at the edge of the sheet) will not be revealed until Tuesday.

Only then did somebody finally realise. Oh and yes the BlueSport Roadster Concept is on display @ Geneva.
 


I think the new Polo looks really sweet in red, and for the first in my life, I am not pieced off by the fact a car resembles another under the same brand. In this case, it is obvious that the Polo is a little Golf. Inside and out!
