Volkswagen welcomes MAN’s decision

Wolfsburg, 23 January 2007 - As the largest shareholder of Scania and MAN, Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft welcomes the decision by MAN Aktiengesellschaft to withdraw its offer for Scania. Volkswagen has always stated that it would only support a mutually agreed solution. Such a solution would see the combination of Scania and MAN together with Volkswagen’s Brazilian commercial vehicles business. Volkswagen is convinced that a friendly solution is the best way to leverage the high potential synergies of such a combination.
