Not all that disappointed this car won't make it stateside afterall. The GTI is tons better looking, though I'm sure this car will handle better due to a lower center of gravity.

Come on man...everyone knows the concept looks better. Audi was just being STINGY with the grill.

Overall very nice...

• The front is nice, although it doesn't have any VW characteristics ?! :
• Rear & profile are killer
• Rims are fantastic

And if it's RWD as they promised, then I'd really consider it.

3dr Golf will become completely redundant.

Not really, this will be a premium golf and those in the market for an entry golf will most likely not be able to afford a Scirocco. Think of it as a 1er coupe, a premium hatchback!

But bad news for 3dr Golf. The new Polo will steal basic Golf model sales, while Scirocco will eat deeply into mid- & high-end Golf model sales.

True. This is why our VW boss here doesn't want this car brought to the U.S. It looks better than any current VW hatchback so it does run the risk of making VW's other hatches look pointless. I still don't see why VW couldn't make this a real Scirocco/Corrado type vehicle, instead of a taller, but squished hatchback.

This means Vw and Audi are no longer sharing same exterior ??!

Indeed.

If Scirocco / Corrado was a proper coupe (not a 3dr hatch) the whole situation in VW model line would be much clearer. And VW marketing teams around the world would sleep better.

I'm concerned since the most exciting VW models (Passat CC, Sirocco) won't be available in US market. It seems VW USA is determined to fight Toyota - and beat it: even in dullness.

I can see many high school graduates who are initially in the market for a 3d Golf stretching their budget in order to leave the dealer with a Scirocco. It's one hell of a looker, but the Golf won't suffer to long since it will be replaced this fall. The real loser in all this is Audi and their A3, for the first time a VW is more attractive than an Audi. Nice to see that at least one of them is evolving their design. Too bad the Passat Coupe didn't get the same design treatment as this baby.
