How reliable is the Phaeton?

Does anyone know about a disgruntled Phaeton owner, or how well or bad the Phaeton fared in reliability surveys?

What about the folks at the VWVortex. Is there any over there who had problems with a Phaeton?

I really would like to know.

If the Phaeton is a reliable car, than I want proofs so I can shut the hell up of those (wankers) who keep saying the Phaeton is a joke.

If not, then I still will tell them (the wankers) to shut the hell up, because they known (The F word) all about cars.

Actually, many owners at VW Vortex do experiences problems... Mostly minor which can be fixed through VAGCOM, and some more serious like suspension and transmission issues, which may require replacement of parts.

But then again, no car is bulletproof. Air suspensions are infamous for leakages and its non-durability, and as for the gearbox, it's as reliable as any from the E65 7er, simply because its the same ZF 6-speeder.

From my experience (my dad has a Phaeton 3.2), so far he encountered problems like instrument lighting not firing up quickly enough on startup, and a irritating rattle that comes from incessant vibration of the rear smoking tray. Also, he has some steering clicks at full lock but it doesn't affect the handling. Other than that, it's still going strong at 36,000KM. A rock solid car that starts and goes every morning (very much an anti-thesis of the Quattroporte), it's the car my dad would prefer to drive any day.

It's definitely more reliable than his W220, which needed to have its Airmatic suspension columns replaced. ;)

I think if a US Phaeton owner abandoned the Phaeton it would be due to dealership issues/services.

As James said most problems are solved with VAG-COM :D
