Maybach 57/62 (W240/V240) [VIDEOS] Maybach 62 Landaulet Study in action


The Maybach 57 (W240) and 62 (V240) were the first automobile models of the Maybach brand since its revival by DaimlerChrysler AG (now Mercedes-Benz Group AG). The concept car and production models were based on the Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class. Both models had an "S" (Spezial) option, and additional Landaulet version for the 62 S. Production: April 2002 – February 2013, 3,321 produced.

The Landaulet design was made popular in the early part of the century and there’s a good reason why it didn’t get past that era. As this latest video reveals, cruising around with the half the roof folded away and the driver cocooned up front looks downright goofy. In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
