Discuss Ultimate Garage, Pt III 2022-onward

I'll admit to having a soft-spot for the X350/X358 XJ sedans:

I've always thought that they got a bit of a "bad rap" ("They're just ordinary Fords with a new gardrobe.").
Oddly I like old-school XJ (X350) and new-school XJ (X351). I'd have no qualms driving either one of them.

Gotta add that new BMW M3 Touring to my list (even though it’s not coming to SA ) as it must be one of the best fast estates ever.

And, as for a brace of cars in the impossible money garage: it would have to be a Chiron and a Ghost II.

My top 300 are all cars that are no longer in production but since this is a forum for NEW car enthusiasts I'll keep it shallow.

1. 2021 Mach 1 HP TR-3160

There's more but these would do.

To be honest, if I had to fill a 20 car garage, but it had to be cars currently in production, or in production for this year, I'd probably struggle to do it with stuff other than 'for the sake of it'. There just really isn't that much stuff coming out at the moment that genuinely appeals. I could obviously fill any garage with BMWs and Alpinas, but beyond something like an M240i and B5 touring as dailies, it would still mostly be for the sake of it. A Phantom and Cullinan for posher days out. Perhaps a Brabham BT62 and/or SCG 003 for showing off (probably by crashing spectacularly) on track - and for probably crashing spectacularly on the road, something a bit different, like a Caterham Seven 620.

You're either totally fussy or so jaded that your next car ought to be a Haval. ;)

20 cars would be no struggle for me whatsoever, in fact, choosing which one to drive from 20 from would send me straight to the loony bin. Of the current crop here's where my billionaire-level dosh would go...

Well I'll keep it very short and sweet. I'll eventually put up daily drivers and super cars and maybe an SUV, LOL! But the first car I'd like to put up is a provocative one and a controversial one some would say, but I'd disagree as there are myriads of reasons why one likes or loves something they do and that's it.

It started in Top Gear Magazine in 2010~

The main attraction way back when was the aesthetics and in other area's too there were or should have been firsts like 1 piece carbon fiber wheels etc. Maybe one day I'll write up a legacy piece. Anyway Jason Castriota is a MASTER at design. Period. This one's purely his creative genius and you can tell. His surname is present on the hypercar too.

And here's the pre production prototype. She looks a hell of alot better in (pearl?) white than black. For a production hypercar over a a decade old she looks mint. Irrespective of any "shenanigans" later. Looks like they'll be very rare too.:)

What else has he designed?

"Jason Castriota is an American automobile designer born in White Plains, New York, and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. He graduated from Emerson College in Boston and attended but dropped out of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.[1] After his internship at the Pininfarina design studio, he decided to stay in Turin rather than return to the US to complete his studies. As a designer he took part in the design of production cars such as the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano and Maserati GranTurismo, concept cars like the Maserati Birdcage 75th and the Rolls Royce Hyperion, and, as Head Designer for Special Projects, one-off exclusive cars for particular customers, such as the Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina, a restyled Enzo Ferrari for American car collector James Glickenhaus, and the Ferrari 612 Kappa, a restyling of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti for car collector Peter Kalikow."

And most likely alot more under NDA in collaboration or not.🙂

Haval? Please... it'd be an Ora Good Cat, actually.

I'm definitely quite jaded when it comes to the upper end of the performance market, in a lottery win situation I'd be more likely to spend my time and money tracking down mint examples of curiosities like that TommyKaira M30e I recently posted, than swanning about in a supercar that's basically just going to be uncomfortable and never come close to delivering its performance potential in the real world.

Don't get me wrong. With a Euromillions jackpot win, I'm buying literally hundreds of cars.

This would be my choice as a daily driver. Perhaps not the most sensible choice but nevertheless it's spacious and the build quality was very very good and from memory the powertrain reliable and the dynamics absolutely cracking.

That'll be me for awhile now as I mull over which Bugatti to choose!😂

Great list, Marcus, but of all the BMWs to put on that list only one makes it in and it’s the…
