Here's perhaps the biggest reason why I'd choose the RS5. The 4.2 V8 is NA, longitudinally placed, sounds better than the 5-cylinder turbo... I could go on.![]()
But is that enough for an Audi RS? Surely what I’ve just described is the job description of a TT S? An RS should be on a different level, have a clearer line of communication, the ability to attract purists and not rely on the engine, rather than the chassis, to raise a smile and reward the driver. Ultimately, it seems the TT RS was an engineering challenge too far for Ingolstadt. It’s a good Audi, but not a great drivers’ car.
But in the end the TT RS leaves me wanting more…what? Involvement? Dialogue? Visceral fun? It should be better than this. Especially when another £1122 buys you a Cayman S.
RS5. TT RS is one fast little machine, but I doubt it is anywhere as engaging. Here is what evo had to say bout it:
And another evo review, but diffrent reviewer...
Having driven both the RS5 and TT-RS I personally favour the TT for a number of reasons, it feels much lighter on it's feet which carries forward to the engine feeling more responsive and your input feel more alert, be it the steering, the brakes or the throttle, you sense more connection with the car as a whole. Plus it's sheer size means it's easier to throw down a country road.
Nothing personal here but quoting what others think without any seat time yourself is not a fair opinion on the car.
