Two of Audis best cars. The RS5 got the looks, but the TT-RS has proven to be an amazingly quick car. Which and why would you pick?

My favourite little Audi has always been the TT and the introduction of the RS5 never changed that.

Now if you had included the Quattro Concept or R8 then it might have been a more difficult choice.

Hmm, really hard decision here but a white TT RS for me please, more unique styling wise..

Its a realy hard choice for me, cause I really LOVE the TT-RS. Its crazy fast!! And it looks freaking hot. The "hairdresser / wifey" - status is looong gone.

But...then we have the beautiful A5... Pumped up even more... I just love the RS5.. It has got everything I want from a car. Its soooo beautiful. Love it! My vote for the RS5.

I want the best driving experience and I think TT-RS is a better driver's car.

easily TT-RS ....no doubt .........

Red TT-RS convertible with alcantara sets and manuel gearbox......

The only negative point is, that there isn't so much space like in the RS5..........

RS5. It's one of the most beautiful and brutal looking cars on the road. The fact that it's less than 80K in US is just badass.

this is tough one for sure in one hand you got the ttrs its like a pocket rocket with a marvelous engine, and on the other you got the rs5 it has such a wicked look, and more of a complete car ahh man... I struggle on which I will eventually own.The ttrs is up bat first and so who's what I'll do.

Here's perhaps the biggest reason why I'd choose the RS5. The 4.2 V8 is NA, longitudinally placed, sounds better than the 5-cylinder turbo... I could go on.

I actually much prefer the note produced by the TT's 5 cyl. Probably it's my age and being able to recall the sound their legendary rally cars made which swings it for me.

Where is my RS5 Cabrio.... ?
Where is my R4 Cabrio.... ?

Oh well... I see, If I had to pick one I would pick, eh... Fck :D
Hmmmm.... TT-RS Cabriolet... the reason why:

Also let me finish with this photo... mostly because of the blakc/carbon defusor and mirrors... black before silver ... Always!

RS5. TT RS is one fast little machine, but I doubt it is anywhere as engaging. Here is what evo had to say bout it:

But is that enough for an Audi RS? Surely what I’ve just described is the job description of a TT S? An RS should be on a different level, have a clearer line of communication, the ability to attract purists and not rely on the engine, rather than the chassis, to raise a smile and reward the driver. Ultimately, it seems the TT RS was an engineering challenge too far for Ingolstadt. It’s a good Audi, but not a great drivers’ car.

And another evo review, but diffrent reviewer...

But in the end the TT RS leaves me wanting more…what? Involvement? Dialogue? Visceral fun? It should be better than this. Especially when another £1122 buys you a Cayman S.

Neither. I'd rather buy a second hand R8 V8 in mint condition.

TT-RS = nose plough.
RS5 = brittle ride and glassy steering.

Really, there's no way that I could be asked to choose between the two as there are better competitors and even siblings from the same stable (e.g. S4).

I'd take an S5 thanks.
But if I had to choose, it would be the RS5. I feel the TT-RS is no real RS, with its chassis and looks. Little more than a TT-S imo, only more power.

The RS5 on the other hand is a truly stunning vehicle, genuinely different than an S5. And it looks waaaay better than the TT.

Having had the opportunity to do a bit of time behind the wheel of a 272 HP TT S coupe (and having been left mighty impressed), I can only imagine how magnificent a ride the TT RS is. I personally would certainly prefer the TT RS to the RS5. I'd take advantage of the factory option of passing on that fixed rear spoiler though. It looks silly to me and the retractable version is sufficient enough.

Having driven both the RS5 and TT-RS I personally favour the TT for a number of reasons, it feels much lighter on it's feet which carries forward to the engine feeling more responsive and your input feel more alert, be it the steering, the brakes or the throttle, you sense more connection with the car as a whole. Plus it's sheer size means it's easier to throw down a country road.

Nothing personal here but quoting what others think without any seat time yourself is not a fair opinion on the car.

Nothing personal here, but unlike you I do not go around making claims of having driven or owned everything under the sun. I instead go by opinion of people whose job it is to do that. I rather trust the opinion of a seasoned reviewer than a random internet poster full of it.

Well the unfortunate thing is that everyone is bias, even reviewers and they all have their favourites. So while their opinion might mean some people like yourself will dismiss a car based on that opinion you would be very foolish without finding out for yourself. I have witnessed numerous times where on a one day roadtest the review has hated a car only for the magazine to run one long term and that opinion to complete change. I'm of the opinion that if a set of loudspeakers grab your ears the first time you hear them than chances are they will piss you off within two months but the speakers which you don't notice are the one you will be happy with an eternity. The same is true for motor cars.
