Hey everyone,
So, just today I went with a friend to check out some replacement possibilities for his car. While he was looking for RS Q3s, I decided to check out Audi's A4 Avant and A5 Sportback, since there were no RS4 or 5 in available the showroom...
My thought was that, the comparison between the RS4 and the RS5 Sportback, should be similar, in terms of design and sitting position to the A4 Avant and A5 Sportback, not so much the sitting position perhaps, more so the design and sense of occasion.
So this is how it goes, I walk into the dealership thinking that I like the Avant better than the Sportback, simply because I love wagons. As soon as I step inside, a A4 Avant S-Line is sitting right at the door. I check out the outside, and spot a A5 Sportback S-Line sitting behind it. I spent a good time looking at them from different angles, then stepped inside each of them.
I had the impression that, despite both cars being, in theory, pretty much the same, there are a few subtle differences in design in the interior. The exterior is in your face (duh) the interior is what surprised me the most. As soon as I opened the Sportback's door and looked inside, it all seemed sporty, low and stanced, if that makes any sense. As I opened the Avant's door, to my surprise, as I was expecting to have the same impression as in the Sportback, it just felt like an ordinary car.
So, here am I, asking you guys who probably had some sort of experience or contact with the RS counterparts for these two. Is it me or the interior in the Sportbacks feel like they sit lower than the Avants? And is the sense of occasion of the RS5 Sportback indeed higher than the RS4's like I felt between the regular cars?
I know, we all love wagons, so I ask you to, please, try not be biased towards it.
The main debate here is wether there is actually a difference between sitting position of the A4 Avant and A5 Sportback? Does that follow for the RS4 and RS5 Sportback also? And are there any differences between the interior proportions (felt like the dashboard in the A4 Avant was less sporty than the Sportback's) or was it me?
Cheers folks!
