TV TopGear: Season 15

This is exactly my point. If you want to see Cameron Diaz then stick on a DVD that she's in. What she's doing on a car programme is beyond me.

I'm by no means a Cameron Diaz fan, but that was easily one of the best SIARPC segments ever. Unlike some Hollywood people who've been on the show before, Diaz and Cruise actually seemed to know what it was all about and weren't only concerned about promoting their new movie. Yesterday's episode was very good overall, even if the Senna homage thing seemed to drag on for too long.

Top Gear is not a 'car programme' any more, it's an entertainment programme. It used to be a car programme though - I remember seeing a clip from around 1988 where Tiff Needell extolled the virtues of a 1st-gen Proton Saga. Now that was hardcore. :D

I'm not very happy with Top Gear at the moment. Seems like the team is thinking they have to destroy one or two car every Season to be entertaining and also the Challenges are not as good as before anymore.
Also the testing of cars isn't that appealing since the last seasons. Maybe they have to "stop" Top Gear for a year or so to bring back the good old show…

But why should anybody care how fast ANY celebrity can drive a car round the track?

Why use that example? You only have to go back a few years to when it was really good, even in it's current format. I don't classify 40 minutes of three guys messing about with motorhomes as "entertainment". It was cringeworthy and completely unfunny.

For no reason whatsoever (I don't), but that's beside the point. Since the conditions on the track (and possibly the condition of the car) vary, the track times aren't really comparable in any case. Same goes for the Stig's hot lap times. For what it's worth, I often find the SIARPC segment boring, but when they have a proper car guy (or gal) there, it can be very funny/entertaining/informative.

The point was that TG used to be a very serious motoring show where price, mpg and boot space were more important than performance, build quality or design. In the new format, it's been more and more about the three guys messing about than the cars themselves. The motorhome challenge had potential to be much more than what it was, but for me it still was one of the highlights of the season. I agree that overall this season hasn't been as good as some of the earlier ones (although the last episode was excellent), but I still consider myself entertained. ;)

Give Cameron and Tom credit. They weren't only the fastest, they did it with the steering wheel on the wrong side :D.

Up til last week's episode, I would agree, but this week's episode is one of the best of Top Gear. I think they have done everything they could do with the challenges, but for once, it is all about the cars. I will never get bored watching the footage of the Veyron top speed run. Clarkson's interview with Tom and Cameron was actually entertaining. I am also impressed by the lengths they went into producing the Senna homage.

I don't know what has been reported outside of the UK but here there has been accusations that the lap times reported for Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz were fixed. I didn't believe this for one moment and the producers of the show have stated there was no fix, Tom appeared 2 hours prior, spending more time on the track than any other celebrate, the public seem to have forgotten that he is a very skilled driver that does more of the stunt you see and are amazed at, plus is an accomplished stunt pilot, something that requires as much skill and discipline as a professional racing driver. They even handed over the key of the Veyron which it proceeded to drive up the airstrip at a recorded 190mph.

Anyway, great show and like most here, wished each series was a bit long.

i love this show

no other car shows like this!
i have all the 15 series, well a part of the episode that are not yet broadcasted

Maybe it's because I'm getting old, but I haven't watched a single Top Gear episode this season. Sure there are some beautiful segments in every other episode but overall Top Gear is a clown show. I've lost quite a bit of interest.
