M3/M4 Top Gear: M3 V8 drive report

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
I was just reading the comments left by people to the review and found this:

I am fortunate enough to have driven an M3 because I work for BMW. I personally don't like it and feel that it will never come close to Audi's RS4.

The Audi is a masterpiece and is the best-handling saloon around, while the M3 is just a little bit too much of the techno geek's car. Undeniably it's amazing to drive, but I don't like it.

I can honestly say the Audi RS4 is worth £4,000 more because in the twisty bits, it's four grand more car and the interior is second to none. It easily outclasses the M3.

f you're useless, you can drive an M3 fast; if you're brilliant, you'll be able to wring the M3 out and still be impressed. That is a very hard dichotomous trick to pull off, and its one of the few cars that does it successfully.

this is not a good quote..

Why is that that not a good quote?

cuase its very AMG..and MB.. from my point of view its gr8.. cause i like cars like that..but its not what BMW is known for..
the last M3..when i drove it..it was a BEAST..you needed to be cautious..
the RS4 is a car that goes fast with no skills.. sure it has its own charm..but its also one of my issues with it..
i was hoping for BMW to adress that..with a real purist car.. but obviously they have gone down the comfy road aswell

What is wrong with a car that goes faster with a better skilled driver... doesn't say anything about comfort like you allude to - not that comfort with performance is a bad thing ... but whatever, you seem to be on a mission to highlight every comment about the M3 in a negative way, don't let me stop you :)

ohh no im not..belive me..i might have wanted this to be alot more than even YOU wanted it to be..
but i refuse to be misslead..this is not what we expected..we expected something in line with a unforgiving monster:D

Oh ok... oh wait, but then that would be too raw... what the heck :)
I hope you get my point too ;D

I never expected an unforgiving monster. neither was the previous one. That's what the M3 CSL is for. This car is perfect, it can be a beast if you want it to, but it doesn't have to be. And that's what people want.

I had no doubt that BMW would create a class leader.

Now let's see if the C63 or the RS5 can change the status quo.:D

I'm not sure what's gonna happen with the sports sedan segment, but I would have to give the upper hand to Audi for having a later launch date with both the RS4 and RS5! :usa7uh:

You actually believe that? Come on, whoever wrote that is 12 and was up past his bedtime!

sounds like a similar post I read on RS6.com when the new RS4 came. He said he was working for Audi and the competition were better than new RS4. Some posts are just obvious that they are fake and cant be taken for real.

Did you also read the one a little lower saying the guy propably worked for Audi, not BMW. or do you believe a BMW employe would write that.

The guy who wrote that comment replied with this:

A comment for Mark: I do work for BMW, not Audi, and have driven both cars. I can say, hand on heart, that the Audi handles far better than the M3. Yes, the engine is in front of the headlamps, but the 4wd system and suspension and the ride in the RS4 are amazing. Go drive an RS4 and you will see my point.

The Audi will happily eat the M3 for breakfast, lunch and dinner, I'm afraid and happy to say.

The guy who wrote that comment replied with this:

Okay, since he said a SECOND time that he works for BMW, then he MUST be telling the truth.

Give me a break.

Tell you what, <whispers> I've been trying to keep this a secret, but I work for Audi and the RS4s and R8s we provide to magazines for testing are lighter weight and have bigger motors than the ones we sell to the public! Don't tell anyone! I do work for Audi, so what I am writing must be true! :t-crazy2:

So you reckon he's an Audi fanboy then? I guess it could be the case, but why have I got any reason to doubt him, most of the reviews on this car haven't been amazing, even Just_me has turned to the devil! j/k:D

What's wrong is that 95% of the worlds drivers don't know how to drive a fast car because they don't have the proper skills, especially here in NA :)

I guess you got the "95%" from a scientific study you did? Sorry to sound harsh, but I have issues with percentages being thrown around with out anything to back it up. Like they say, 96% of the statistics are made up! :)

Coming back to the point, what is wrong with a car that is fast if the driver is not so good and really fast if the driver is good? That is what the TG comment says and I would never get why that is bad in a car.

I still can't believe that so many people have dropped support, or at least got dissapointed with the new M3 because of what a few journos have said.

Seriously, this car was/is meant to be a refinement over the previous one, just like the E46 was over the E36. I've said it before, there were so many people who complained about the E46 being "soft" over the E36 but then all of a sudden it turns into the next Icon. Same thing is gonna happen to this E92.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
