M3/M4 Top Gear: "Has the BMW M3 gone soft?"

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
I dont mind if the new M3 V8 has better comfort and is a better everydaycar than M3 e46. Heck, I dont care if the car wins or loses carcomparisons between C63 and RS4. All I'm asking for is that the new M3 V8 is more involving and still the drivers car among the german trio. Thats why the M3 is a famous and beloved car.

It's easy to say the whole "I dont care if the car wins or loses carcomparisons between C63 and RS4" but do you truely feel that way? The M3 is the only icon in this segment, it could be said the the RS4 was Audi's 1st true attemped at producing a true M3 competitor. Now the M3 is no longer the performance standard in this segment. And you honestly could careless weather or not the iconic M3 lands on top? :t-hands:

P.S No disrespect but maybe you've gone soft!

yes I do, I have said for very long time winning and losses doesnt matter for me (that goes for all tests, I have said it like 1000 times before so its should be no news for any1). I will never pick a car based on an autojournalist, its his opinion.
so yes I truely feel so :usa7uh: , so you could say I gone soft a long time ago my friend ;). Its good for bragging rights but thats all.

Is the BMW M3 Too Perfect? - Wheels - Autos - New York Times Blog

Hahahahaha ...

BMW cars just always get the attention & press exposure. Great news for BMW! ;)

Even the mighty New York Times joined the party questioning E92 M3 nature. And what is very funny is that the author of the comment even haven't driven the car yet. Like we haven't - but our comments are (fortunately / unfortunately) not published on NYT webpage.

Basically he talks about other comments & articles. And wonder ... :D

Interesting. Everybody debates about E92 M3 these days. Almost no talk about C63 (usually only mentioned in M3 articles / comments).

Debate = maximum publicity.

Now I hope you understand why BMW do not practice special launch shows: because they get the publicity anyway. And some money is saved. :D

Eni, your attempt to spin negative publicity into a positive for BMW rings rather hollow. Its like the shopworn expression "its a feature, not a bug." :D

Debate is only a positive for an auto manufacturer when the commentators conclude that the product is good.

Example: I am sure Audi did not consider all the media discussion about unintended accelleration during the 80s-90s to somehow be a positive thing.

Unfortunately, so far the media reaction to the M3 is mixed.

I do think the NYT blog you linked is a weak attempt by the bligger to get publicity -- for himself, not for BMW.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
