Aston, Mercedes, Audi for me please. The A7 is going to be the shocker in person IMO.

This:

Is a pitiful, sorry arse mess. BMW would be just waisting their time building this. Problem is the regular 5-Series sedan already looks better and its really hard to improve upon that with the same size car.

^haha and the ugly aston does a freakin db9 with 2 extra doors..??
I would like to see if MB but 2 more doors on the CL and called its CLS what people would say..

If you get to see the Aston in real life then I doubt you will think to same way because it's still stunning looking and has an elegance that none of the others in this list have.

Put in order of looks

1:Aston Martin Rapide
2:Audi A7
3:Mercedes CLS & VW Passat CC
5:Porsche Panamera

I am surprised why Rapide is not getting more votes?? That V12 in the Aston Martin Rapide is to die for. None of the other cars come close.

Ive seen the DB7 i can imagine 2 extra doors.
but sure ile take a look at geneva..

Purely from design POV, VW CC gets my vote. It's the best resolved 4 door coupe design IMO. Rapide is of course beautiful, but lazy design. A7 - handsome face, but the rear end sucks - wish it had the CC's rear. CLS is smoking hot in CLS63 guise but my attraction is again restricted to the front end, not a fan of that fat ass. Design wise, Panny comes last design wise, though if I had to own one of these, the performance and handling will trump the looks and make it the one.

I voted CLS as it would be the one that I'd buy, but I also think that it might be the most flawed design of them.... Or at least, the most polarizing (both the most brilliant and flawed at the same time).

The A7's cool, but the rear is a deal breaker to me, and I'm not huge on Audi styling, the Panamera is just butt ugly in the rear as well, but I don't mind it all that much (I've seen some nice ones), the Aston is nice, but too "supercar-ish" for my tastes (to buy at least, and that look gets older to me fast).

I like M-B's bloodline, so the CLS becomes the easy winner, although, I'm still not on board 100%.

Oh, and the CC is just not in the same league.

Completely agree with you about the Aston. I personally don't think it should be in this poll because it is one above every other car in terms of price. It's also for sure the best sounding.

If someone came up to me and asked me which car I would want, money no object
1. Aston... obviously. Most exclusive, best looking inside out
2. CLS: Hands down the best car in the MB lineup. Bravo
3. A7: I've warmed up to it, a lot. But still not as good as the CLS imo
4. CC and Panamera: CC looks better (haha way to go VW), but the Panamera is a great dynamic car.

It might be a lazy attempt to design a 4 door by Aston Martin, but:
1. It's the best looking IMO. To call it ugly? To each and their own
2. Still better looking than 95 percent of the car out there

For me, the choice between the CLS and the Audi A7 is difficult. The bold, flamboyant, extraverted and polarizing Mercedes-Benz versus the far more subtle yet exceedingly elegant Audi. The CLS certainly is more effective at arresting the eye, it's wow factor immense. But I have my reservations about the CLS' ability to age well. Not so with the Audi.

I also very eagerly await the upcoming BMW 6-series Gran Coupe based 4-door. Should the new 6er coupe be anything to judge by, the 4 door version may very well be absolutely splendid.

After having seen a few Rapides in the metal, my initial enthusiasm for that car has diminished considerably. I find its' proportions awkward. The Panamera is reported to be absolutely magic to drive. But in terms of visual attraction, I find its' exterior very, very difficult to like. The Passat CC is a very good car for what it offers and-it's really quite affordable. But I also don't think it really belongs in this comparison.

I am of the opinion that the CLS will age poorly. The 4-Door Coupe shape isn't exactly timeless on its own, and the current CLS is a far more timeless design than the upcoming CLS, so however the current one has aged (very well I'm almost surprised to say), I think the new one will age definitely worse.

It's certainly popping and arresting, and has some quirky elements that I think might get tiresome to the eye (the character line for one). Only way to know though, is to wait.

Pioneer of the segment, the Cls for me please! I must say, it was a very hard call between Cls & A7 as they both look awesome!! :usa7uh:

Now let's be fair!

I would have the Panamera and Rapide, personally.

BUT if there has to be a KING:bow:....who started all this and who pioneered this segment? THE CLS;):t-cheers:

Being first doesnt give it the automatic right to be king. It's a nice looking car but it's design is the most flawed of all here in my opinion.

I'd rather have a new CLS 63 than anything from Aston. Except maybe the DBS.
Aston makes nice looking cars, but the technology is ancient, old, stupid and the engines are slow and not powerful at all.

A DB9 with two extra doors making the whole car look weird and disproportioned is what I call 'flawed'

:eusa_doh: Of course you're correct footie, the true King of the 4-Door Coupe has still to be born...the BMW 4-door coupe a.k.a Gran Coupe;):D

wtf. A £150k 6l V12 Aston or a £20k 4-pot VW?:t-crazy2: Let me think about this for a moment...

I respectfully disagree. The 6GC is not coupé-ish enough to beat the CLS.

I must admit that you do have point.

Judging by the photographs of the Gran Coupe Concept, the car appears to be positioned somewhere between the genre of 4 door coupes and the Maserati Quattroporte. The Gran Coupe is however considerably lower (by some 45-50mm, according to the spec sheet) than the QP, thus giving it some coupe credibility.

It will be interesting to see how accurately BMW translates the GC Concept into the actual production version. Perhaps a somewhat more rakish C-pillar/rear window, at the expense of a bit of headroom, would give the car a more pronounced coupe flavor.

Human,

The more I look at pictures of the GC, the more I am becoming disillusioned on how it is going to turn out- I still can't compare it to the feeling I got with the CS.
With the CS- it was the " I want it factor", but with the GC- it is the "uhmm, okay factor".
The GC looks messy to me unless the production version will change my mind.

I willing to give them the benefit of doubt but all bets are off once I've seen it for real.
