That's Johnnie Walker Blue smooth

...and that very clean, very precise balance and purity of line will have the A7 looking fresh in 10-15 years time. I rather doubt whether that will be the case for the CLS, as exciting and breathtaking as it may look today.

That may be true....the CLS goes for the maximum, immediate shock effect.

I had to choose the CLS over the VW cc, I actually own the VW CC i got to give Credit to VW to give us something like this with its price, its a Bargain for the looks... if VW spent maybe just half of what mercedes put into the CLS , i bet u would see more votes on it

IMO :D

I have the exact opposite feeling.

I see the previous CLS today and it's still such a beautiful car. The newest one will be a classic.

I wholeheartedly agree with regard to the first generation CLS. Although polarizing with many likening its' exterior design to that of an overly ripend banana, the first CLS was devoid of much of the asymmetry seen on the new second generation car. While this flamboyancy makes for a high degree of initial excitement (referring to the new CLS), this convolution of line and the interuption of flow will probably not benefit the car in the long run.

I am still very impressed when I see a first generation CLS, nicely equipped with AMG 19" or 20" wheels and in an elegant subdued metallic color. Not bad for a 7 year old car.

Agreed. First-Gen CLS is a love or hate with me. I either see one on the road, and thing "gross", or I see a mandatorily-well optioned/decked out model, and drop my jaw at how gorgeous and shockingly/masterfully timeless it is for a car that set a fashion trend, and has a lot of popping smoke effect.

The new one will be a sight to behold on the streets, but I have no doubts that the confusing lines will force it to have even more of a popping-smoke effect, but perhaps make it tiring and "been there, done that" to look at quicker. We'll see. Maybe once my eyes possibly make sense of the character lines, I'll see it as a timeless design myself.
