While the BMW is the least developed of the GTP field, not all hope is lost. BMW stated they didn't focus on one-lap/quali speed during all of the practice sessions, but rather worked on race pace.

On the other hand, it's been said the Acura teams were given clear directive to go for pole.

Main challenge will be reliability of course for these new machines.

Personally, at this point I think the main challenge is convincing IMSA to keep giving you a more favourable BOP!

On the one hand, it's new for everybody, the hope is BMW have done a better job on car development than the others, or certainly at least as good a job, and that BOP doesn't penalise them. On the other hand, there's teams, drivers and people that have got more experience in the top prototype class, and when the green flag waves at Daytona, that's going to be just as important as what's underneath them. I f#cking love the Daytona 24, and I'm glad I've got somebody in the top class again to properly cheer for, but I'm honestly not expecting a trophy out of it - if we're the 3rd fastest car we still need others to have bad luck to get on the podium.

Maybe I'm just being pessimistic, but I'm also not convinced the GT classes will yield much. They've had far more factory support in the past and still failed to be near the front. I think the nature of being a Roval penalises cars not built as true sportscars more than many other tracks.

I'm hyped for the race either way.

Is there a way to watch the entire race on TV without switching between broadcasters every two hours? Or is the website stream the best option? I have access to PPV channels in the US, UK, Canada and a few other places.

Honestly I've not looked into it yet this year, but as a UK based viewer the website stream has always been the best option, allied with the audio stream from Radio Le Mans. I have 5 screens on the go from my desktop and my office chair is more conducive to staying awake than my sofa and my TV!

The broadcast for this year on IMSA.tv is ambiguous.

"ROLEX 24 AT DAYTONA (ONLY AVAILABLE TO STREAM IN THE UNITED STATES ON PEACOCK PREMIUM)"

But I'm taking that as it'll be on IMSA.tv unless you're in the US, in which case you need NBC's Peacock premium.

Acura and Cadillac demonstrating why experience in prototype racing matters at Daytona, even when it's applied to a new reg set. BMW and Porsche both struggling more. Tough to say whether getting the lowest rev limit in the BoP is what messed BMW up or not. I'll be curious to see the lap data after the race for the average sector 3 times. The 24 hasn't even got into the 1:36's all race. Fastest Acura has done 1:35.6's. Perhaps BMW sand bagging for the season, when interviewed Eng indicated that they were just taking it at their own pace... or, perhaps, they didn't sandbag enough during the Roar.

BoP in the GT classes needs looking at too. Glad Seb Priaulx has outpaced Harry Ticknell so far but the BoP for the Porsches clearly doesn't seem right.

Meyer-shank Acura has done a brilliant job, and Blomqvist has been excellent. Most pitstops from the GTP contenders (37 stops versus 33), and Fastest lap so far, still leading by 5s with 5 to go.

I'm absolutley f#cked :D terrible race for BMW but I do love Daytona, glad I didn't spaff the money to go to this race.. we'll see about Petit Le Mans.

0.016 for LMP2 !!!

Pass over the line.... ****ing brilliant...

Congrats to Meyer-Shank Acura for the win, AMR for beating AMG in the GT's despite not being a pro team! Great stuff!
