The new M Performance automobiles range

I just don't agree with turbo M cars.

Well, then you should have just said that in the first place and be done with it and no one would have argued with you - instead of all these musings on why BMW doesn't make an engine like M152 or how S63Tu is not special or how 1M is a marketing exercise.

ps. btw I hope someon got the sarcasm here...

Yea, I wonder why they didn't use the S65. In a car with that suspension and mechanical diff and the 6 speed it would have been brilliant. Would have probably cost more, but yea, would have been an awesome vehicle. A worthy successor to E46 M3. I wish they would build it, may be even a sedan!

and I didn't just waste my week's quota of sarcasm :D.

The 1M IS a marketing exercise.(Very good one at that) We'll save that discussion for another thread and another day, though. For now, I must head to physical therapy for a torn ACL. :) We will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Yes, an excellent one. I am sure they made a killing on the zillions of 1M they sold. They are everywhere, I can't step out without being run over by one.

I've only seen two 1m's in person, and that was at a dealer.

I've seen one on the road and two at different dealers. Sweden,

US
In an interview today with BMW M brand Manager, Matt Russell, we learned that the sport division produced 740 units for the U.S. customers. Essentially there were 739 “baby-Ms” sold to customers and one Valencia Orange used as a pace car at 24 hr of Daytona.

Production for the U.S. ended in September and will not be extended into 2012.

“The 1M was remarkable because it was built quickly, record time and this is a car that we built for the enthusiasts, while committing to keep the number of units small,” said Russell to BMWBLOG.

Saying the TT 4.4l V8 (M5) is better than the NA 5.5l V8 (SLK AMG) because it revs higher also deserves a facepalm. The point was Mercedes can yet build NA engines and BMW not. The 6.2l V8 (C AMG) also revs lower than the 4.0l V8 (M3) but is a torque monster without having any turbo. FYI the McLaren has FI and revs till 8.500 RPM. Oh, it cost 200.000 €! But the M3 also does not cost 150.000 € but revs nearly as high as a Ferrari F430. But then, there is always the 50.000 € Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2.0 JDM that revs till 8.500 RPM.

What colours?

For me it was the white which originally appealed the most but after seeing an orange one it completely changed my opinion on which colour suits it best.

Orange, and black were the colors I saw. Looking at the pics alone I would have said white as well.

Can anyone lend me a facepalm? I've run out...

Great they are finally here! The X5 which is the best SUV is now even greater with that perfect engine
I thought they will look different from the "standard" M-pack...
Any pictures and more info ? 381PS is official now and that's great !!!!

Edit: fast posting :D

These long-rumored engines are officially released.
two figures that caught my eye....

545 lb-ft of Torque...crazy
31,000 psi.....insane

What else do you need?

I don't even like diesels, but you gotta give it to BMW. These are ridiculous. The question is, are any of them coming to the U.S. ???

That white 5er makes me think the M5 looks best in white afterall.

M

The painted rims and mirrors will really stand out on black or other darker colors... ala Audi S :)
Only AWD ?? OMG !
