Does a car have to be sensually curvy as a prerequisite to being deemed beautiful? When it comes to cars - what does "beautiful" really mean?
Traditionally beautiful:
"Pretty"
"Sensual"
"Graceful"
"Elegant"
"Serene"
"Exquisite"
but also beautiful:
"Handsome"
"Sculpted"
"Beguiling"
"Arresting"
"Spunky"
"Athletic"
"Powerful"
Kate is lovely beyond measure but you can't really compare human looks to car design.to me a beautiful car is the automotive equivariant of Kate Beckinsale.

F355 remains my all time favorite among those.Regarding ranking mid-engined V8 Ferraris, I think my list almost the opposite in ranking.
- the 360 Modena and the F430 are probably my favorite because they had emphasized lines that were more curvy and voluptuous on what were more lines that were dictated by a T-square. I still love the air intakes above the rear wheels as that element and the curvy lines felt like hommage to Ferraris of the 1960s, i.e. 250LM, etc. A 430 Scuderia is still lust-worthy as does a good job of straddling a position where the lines both taut and aggressive. Also I still remember getting butterflies sitting in a 16M, it just felt right.
- F355 was almost perfect. Great, great proportions. For some reason still though, the air intake inlet in the doors annoys me but less so nowadays and consider it an eccentric design detail.
- the 458/488/F8. They had some great details, but found the proportions a bit off, namely the ratio of the somewhat stubby length before A-pillar relative to the length aft of the A-pillar. The 458, especially in Speciale form, is my favorite of the trio.
- the 308/328 was a formative car for me as it was a) the first Ferrari I saw in real life. That's just a milestone moment in a young lad's life, b) I had a poster of that car in my youth, and c) Magnum PI.
- SF90 Spider only. The weird, convolute rear deck is only justified if there's a retractable hard-top.
- the 348, while the direct predecessor to the F355, just looks kit-car-like to me.

There were some stunning cars from the 80s. Here is a collection of my all time favorites,

Miura!
For me personally, I think the most beautifully designed cars were from the 1950s and 60's. There are so many legends in automotive design from those eras. The 70s were square cut and 80s/90s start the aero obsession with more raked lights and glasshouse etc.For me, the 1980s' was a strange decade as a design affine car nut. Obviously, the C126 SEC was stunning. The W201 and W124 were quite revolutionary for M-B standards. The R129 SL (1989) was absolutely delicious.. And not to forget the "Golden Era" for BMW (E30, E32, E34, E31). Or the Porsche 944. Audis' C3 100/200 and B3 80/90 were extraordinary exercises. The Ferrari Testarossa was pretty wild. All in all, I prefer the decades that preceded and succeeded the 80s'.

Jimmy, the 90's gave us the Ferrari 360, the ugliest in the bloodline and only loved by some random pervert on GCF
Also gave us Porsche 996, first gen Cayenne, the "cab forward" of Chrysler group plus Daimler marriage, and on top of all: Ford vomitive "kinetic" design.
Looking back, it seems designers didn't know how to evolve the hard edge, angular designs from the 70s and 80s, nor coming back to soft curves preceding those decades.
996's headlights are the synopsis of the 90s: amorphous, swollen, blob design.
IMO, Ford peaked at horrible designs: Puma, Scorpio II, Taurus III, Fiesta IV(And Jag S Type and XK8
)
Peugeot stopped working with Pininfarina, Citroen lost its distinctiveness and went completely dull (Xantia, Xsara, Saxo), Fiat and Lancia lost the plot (that first gen Lancia Y, Fiat Coupè, Barchetta and Multipla) Alfa made the ugliest replacement for the Spider.
Thinking quickly, three brands did improve in the 90s: Aston (DB7) and Maserati (3200 GT), which were reborn; and Audi, who clearly found a design identity and went to become the most influencial design-wise of the 2000s- early 2010s, along BMW
A few like BMW and Mercedes kept the good work, while the rest, took went down in design.

E36 made a good bridge between the boxy, quad lamp design of E30 and svelte body, contoured headlamps of E46. Curiously, BMW didn't made the same "bridge" generation between E32 and E38, nor E34 and E39The E36 (IMHO), not so much-but i
Too bloby, IMO. Lot's of Ford influence as well, with literally ovals everywhereJaguars' X100 XK8 was a very pretty car for its' day,
Gorgerous!
