I'd take the i5 on the basis it still resembles a proper saloon car, albeit not a very attractive one. But realistically there's no way I'd want to spend this kind of money on any of these cars, they are miles short on actual appeal.

To be honest if I was in the market for an electric saloon I wouldn't buy one of these, none of them really makes me smile.

It would rather be a Hyundai Ioniq 6, Audi E-Tron GT or Porsche Taycan.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 was rated no. 1 Best Electric Vehicle C & D tested.

Under the condition of certain criteria being fulfilled, I would definitely be going the pre-owned Taycan route. Well spec'd 2022 model year 4S sedans with complete authorized service logs and some 50K kms on the odometer are going for around 62K+ Euros at German Porsche centers.

As far as the A6 etron is concerned, the Avant increasingly strikes me as having the far better exterior design. Not necessarily overly compelling, but far better than the pudgy, awkward looking Sportback. Media innuendo indicates that the Avant version will not be offered in North America. To me, that makes absolutely no sense at all. Audi again simply lost ? Here in the EU, it is hardly a bold prediction that the Avant will outsell the Sportback by a ratio of circa 4-to-1.

If it's a midsize BEV then I'm buying the VW ID.7 station wagon. It's well priced, it has decent range and charging, a nice cabin, decent quality fit and finish. In Bjørn Nygards tests he's really impressed with it, something he wasn't with the i5.

I'll take an i(onic)5 N

An Alpina D3S, Alpina Blue with full Deco-set and 20" Alpina Classics is £5k cheaper than an Tanzanite i5 eDrive40 M Sport with 20's.

i4 eDrive40 is from 62k over here, an Alpina D3S is from 114k.
